Why is this in the food and entertainment sub forum?
Almost started a thread on it in the off topic forum, where it should be.
Anyways I'm surprised at the amount of kids that have braved the cold this year. I remember last year was a bit warmer and it wasn't this busy over here.

I just moved from the suburbs to a rental community of townhomes closer to downtown. (I was 20km from downtown Ottawa, now only 10km). This community is jam packed with town homes and apartment buildings and condos and the like... and there are many, many kids in the neighborhood. So I assumed that there would be 50 to 100 kids coming so I made sure I had plenty of candy.
I had 6 trick-or-treaters. Six. I now have 3 unopened boxes of chocolates. So here is the stupid question. Will the store take them back? Or do I just suck up the loss and toss them?

I felt bad, there was one kid on my street at about 6 and nobody opened their doors for him. I didn't have any candy and was just coming home to pick up my stuff to leave for the library, so I dashed inside and turned off all the lights before he noticed there was someone home. I saw some kids out in the neighbourhood later who were having some more luck, but I didn't notice nearly as many as I had near my old place last year.

Gave out 150 little bags of chips by 7:30 then turned out the lights, chips were all gone. I live in Lethbridge, seems like a lot of people drive their kids to our sub division, or there are alot of kids who never get let outside the other 364 days of the year.

I was expecting a slow night but actually ran out of candy for the first time ever at about 7:45 (around 120 kids by that time, on a cul-de-sac in Springbank Hill).

I had about 40 kids come by my house. I'm pretty sure that's up from last year. 25ish is the number that pops into my head from last year, if I remember correctly.

Ugh. Why do i even bother. 4 kids in Varsity Village. The last 2 kids i gave them 20 bars each.

I had about the same reaction tonight...though there were a few girls that recognized me (plus I imagine it also helped that my t-shirt said "Macho Man" right on it).
I just took a white leather jacket I bought for $10 and duct-taped the shinguard out of it. The fringes on the jacket are made of plastic tablecloths, and the pants are ladies pajamas from Wal-Mart. Pretty successful costume I would say..

Even though it was cold, I feel bad for the kids whose parents took them to the mall for their trick or treating. That has to be the lamest thing a parent can do.
Going door to door as fast as you can, to accumulate as much candy as you can, is the biggest part of Halloween. If you have to have a few layers under you costume it means you've just participated in a Canadian Halloween.
Parents, don't deprive your kids of a real Halloween.

We went around our culdesac but that was it. Our one year old didn't even make it all the way around it was so cold.
It was pretty funny though, we were sorting the candy and the 1 year old comes up and is playing with boxes, having fun, until my 5 daughter showed here there was candy in the boxes, and it turned into her trying to gnaw the box open.

Wore my costume from a few years ago to my work party yesterday:
Made that before everyone and their dog had a mau5 head by the way. Also I was very suprised by how many people knew who I was. I was only asked by a couple older execs and most people shouted "deadmau5!" right when they saw me. I didn't expect that at all. I even printed out a picture of him so I could show people cause I expected to have to do a lot explaining but nope.
And yes I am drinking Stella through a straw there
