Previous to TSN he worked at ITV in Edmonton, or what would be Global I believe.
i remember watching itv when i was younger (not sure why we got an edmonton channel in kelowna - oh well). i liked it becuz shows were an hour earlier than the bc broadcasts and i could catch the sports before going to bed.
dutchy always cracked me up - he used all the cheesiest sports cliches - it was great... well... except that he was verrrrry pro oiler... therefore no good!
edit.... bahahahahaha!!! how good is it that whoever posted the video uses frankenberry as his avatar?!?!

The national media finally realizing just how awful the Oilers are is hysterical.
I normally hate it when the TO media talks about all the ontario players wanting to go play near home BUT in this case I think it is excellent and I hope the mild to heavy tampering by the media to bring the leafs another shiny object in McDavid begins, because while the leafs have no space to sign him, at least the constant talk of "will McDavid request a trade" will eventually get to him and he will do it, just anything to get out of Edmonton.
Best case scenario:
leafs get busted for tampering and lose picks. Oilers Lose mcDavid to bufffalo or florida or somewhere else we don't have to worry about.
Oilers then proceed to use the new found cap space (and a bit more somehow) on resigning Eberle and hall and it will all have come full circle!
If things continue this way for the Oilers, and all indications are that they will. I could see ESPN making a documentary in 10-20 years, something to the effect of: “Destroying a superstar: How the Edmonton Oilers ruined one of the greatest natural talents the sport has ever seen”

I'd love to see this, spoiler tags for fictional speculation.
Spoiler!
This is the trailer
Soft music playing as we see a scene of young kids playing on an outdoor rink.
ESPN presents - The fall of a Superstar
The music rises as we see scene after scene of the Oilers getting scored on, various coaches looking disgusted, a picture of creepy Katz eye %%%%%%% Connor at the draft
"The Connor McDavid Debacle.
We see a store, its called Connors collectibles. We see a still young Connor standing over one of those spinny things making a clay pot. Then we see him in an interview setting with his hair in a man bun and a beard.
Connor - "Look, I could keep waking up in the morning and staring out the window at that Edmonton Skyline and realize that yup, here comes another horrible day."
Kevin Lowe's grinning face is on the screen "I think every team in the NHL would trade their roster for ours. I know winning"
Connor - "I just came to a realization, that things weren't going to change, and I really started to hate hockey. I could keep doing the Edmonton thing, or I could follow my own dream"
The scene goes to a recreation ESPN goes all out as they have Ryan Reynolds playing Connor and Kelsey Grammer playing Hitchcock. Connor steps off of the ice the camera goes to the score board and it shows Visitors 9 Oilers 1. Connor storms towards the dressing room and Hitch reaches out to grab his arm
Hitch - "Taking the night off are we?"
McDavid - "I need to take a piss"
Hitch lets him go with a whimsical smile on his face as Connor leaves the arena.
Hitch - "Off you go"
We flash back to McDavid
"Look I could continue to wake up every morning and do the Oilers thing, or I could find something that I could be proud of doing, and it came down to clog dancing or making ashtrays. I chose ashtrays"
We flash to Lowe with an angry look on his face
Lowe - "Look I don't give a frack where Connor is, or if I ever see the bastard again. Look at our lineup. We still have Drai, he's not going nowhere"
A german voice swears from off camera.
Then we splash to a picture of Connor holding up an ashtray and the text coming soon"

The river valley is gross and full of syringes. Never want to go in there again.

Oh yeah, totally. With no changes to management or ownership, other than getting rid of the worst GM of the 21st century, I can totally see how they've clearly moved on from the morons who got them into such a horrible position to begin with. And by "moved on from" I mean kept and promoted.
