Take your sensible discussion somewhere else. This thread is getting dangerously off topic. Spector is in Bomonton and Bumonton is NO ****ING GOOD therefore Spector is NO GOOD!
That's all. That's it. No good.

You can definitely feel the anxiety with some of the media and oilers fans… like they are scared to upset McDavid or Draisaitl any more than they already are because they could be close to a breaking point where they wash their hands of this team and demand trades. Spector doesn’t seem afraid of that though. Imagine how angry the oiler fans would be with Spector if he pushed Draisaitl so far that he said he’s done with all of this? Something like this:
Spector: If you can’t stand the heat then get out of the kitchen.
Draisaitl: Fine. That’s exactly what I’m going to do.
1 hour later… Draisaitl trade demand goes public.
It would be an epic meltdown of the oilers fanbase.

I think leaking private conversations is dangerous and shouldn't be done.
I think every rule has exceptions...

And thus, neither McD nor Drai is held accountable for the shortcomings in their games.

If posting screenshots of private convos becomes a norm it bleeds the journalistic integrity Frank needs to acquire sources, information, & content.
Spector being terribly insecure & terrible at his job deserves the ridicule, but the way Peel did it was just lazy.
Either way, grab some popcorn.

Sure, that part of Frank's tweet is fine. The rest of it? Garbage, just like Spector and Peel.

Man is easier and although they weren't the best at it, they were decent enough for the regular season. For zone, they just aren't smart enough to do it, to much standing around thinking.

My favourite part of the McDrai era for the Oilers is that after the full implosion is complete and they both move on, what do the Oilers fanbase and organization do next? How can you get behind a rebuild when you literally had everything go your way during the last 10 year rebuild? You got 4 first overall picks in 6 years. You drafted a generational centre. It's completely hopeless for them. How inept of an organization do you have to be to squander those perfect conditions for a rebuild? It was handed to them on a silver platter!

The problem with getting a top tier generational offensive talent is they're going to take a lot of cap room, so you have to build the rest of the team with your own draft picks. And you have to keep replacing these picks as they exit RFA status since you simply can't afford them anymore. It's what the Pens and the Caps did.

How many other island of misfit hockey personalities are gonna jump on this train? Anyone reach out to Biznasty or Sean Avery for their thoughts yet?

This. So true. If they lose McDavid without ever going to a Stanley cup final, I think that would make them the only team so far to have a “generational” player throughout their prime that never made it to a cup final. By generational, I would include Howe, Orr, Lafleur, Gretzky, Lemieux, Lindros, Crosby, and McDavid. You could argue that there are others and I’m sure including them would just emphasize my point. That point being that E=NG.

Yeah you can create a much longer list.
As it stands, McDavid is probably the best player to not win a cup or get to a final.

Yup the Oilers have a pillow soft fanbase.
Seriously they have 5 wins in 17 games and everyone in the market thought this was there year (plenty of people outside their market felt the same). This is one of the biggest failures in recent memory for a team with 2 of the best players in the league to be fighting for the bottom. Sorry Connor you blew a lead again so you have to answer the same question. You won’t come out and say your goalie needs to make a save and Spec is trying to get that answer another way but it is a legit question that should be answered.
