What was the point of the previous post? Treliving losses all credibility if he makes that move? Credibility to who? Is this loss of credibility immediate, or do we wait to see what transpires next? These baseless blanket statements are a bit undercooked in my mind. The same guys who don't seem to be able to take a wait and see approach are probably the same guys who were calling for Treliving's head after Zadorov, Gudbransson, Coleman, and not trading Gaudreau or Tkachuck etc. Same guys who had the Flames dead and buried in the offseason are still going on about things they have no idea about.
First of all, it is highly unlikely Treliving gives up Pelletier for Chariot. When has he moved a 1st round pick, or equivalent, for a rental? He hasn't and he has been on record saying he won't. So, I don't buy it and I don't know who would. If there is a Chariot for Pelletier deal on the table, I would have to think there is more to it.
Secondly, where's the fit/need for a top 4 LHS D? Unless there is another deal in the works, I don't see it. Unless they plan on playing 7D or sitting one of Chariot, Zadorov, or Kylington I am not too sure what the logic is here. I can see a deal similar to what we have seen in years past though, 4th for a Fantenburg, Forbort, Gustavson type. That would be consistent with what this team has done.
Your two examples, Neal and Brower, aren't good comparibles. They were UFA signings that did not cost the team anything other than money. They did not give up players/picks/prospects for those acquisitions. Trades and UFA signings are very different and should be regarded as such. The Hamonic or Lazar trades would have been better to point to but in both cases Treliving gave up futures for players with term and control.
There's going to be a lot of stuff said from insiders/journalists over the next week, so I assume there is going to be a lot of triggered posters saying 'Treliving should be fired immediately' for things that haven't even happened or are very unlikely to happen.
