Yeah, the Zad and Gud additions were heavily panned (by me as well) and worked out great so far because we have an amazing coach.

I imagine Chiarot would also be effective under Sutter, but it makes no sense because none of our current D should have to sit out to let Chiarot play, and you shouldn't be paying the rumored price for him if he's going to be a 7th dman.

Of course, it wouldn't shock me if they traded for him and then put him in Kylingtons spot. Especially if he has a nagging injury that's hurting his game.

What's the point of this post?

Brad also signed James Neal and Troy Brouwer to horrible contracts. He's not immune from making bad decisions.

He deserves our faith and our trust, but calling out trades like Chiarot for Pelletier as ridiculous and lopsided are not worthy of your scorn.

I wonder how much Sutter trusts Kylington’s risk-reward ratio going into a 7th game of a playoff series….

To be fair I can’t recall a single post here or article that said Gudbranson was a good signing. I’m shocked he’s doing so well and more than happy to eat crow!

Not at all.

They are currently on pace for 193 points collectively, which is well up into the top half of the league, and almost certainly in the top 10 (though I haven't run the numbers)

And they have been on that pace all year (not just a current heater)

Listening to Treliving on the Eric Francis show

Re: the trade deadline coming up

"Its quiet"
"We like our team a lot"
"We'll see"

He repeated "we like our team a lot" a few times. That was telling.

To me, it doesn't sound like they have a lot on the go but "we'll see".

Also noted that he doesn't expect Kylington to miss much time (no more than he has, is my take on it)

I wonder that as well...I could easily see a scenario where Stone draws in for an elimination game and/or game 7.

I actually think that's true. But I think it's two things:

1. Re-enforcing to the locker room that they think they good enough as is if nothing more comes in.

2. Re-enforcing to selling GMs, we aren't desperate and are happy to start the playoffs with what we have, so we won't overpay.

He's not going to play his hand so take that with a grain of salt. I would not be shocked if he makes a move for a depth defenseman but I don't think they will make a big splash. At least I hope.

Dress 7 D-men. Use OK more if we're chasing; less if protecting a lead. Get your big F's a little more ice with the 4th line.

OT games in the playoffs will be interesting, too.

What was the point of the previous post? Treliving losses all credibility if he makes that move? Credibility to who? Is this loss of credibility immediate, or do we wait to see what transpires next? These baseless blanket statements are a bit undercooked in my mind. The same guys who don't seem to be able to take a wait and see approach are probably the same guys who were calling for Treliving's head after Zadorov, Gudbransson, Coleman, and not trading Gaudreau or Tkachuck etc. Same guys who had the Flames dead and buried in the offseason are still going on about things they have no idea about.

First of all, it is highly unlikely Treliving gives up Pelletier for Chariot. When has he moved a 1st round pick, or equivalent, for a rental? He hasn't and he has been on record saying he won't. So, I don't buy it and I don't know who would. If there is a Chariot for Pelletier deal on the table, I would have to think there is more to it.

Secondly, where's the fit/need for a top 4 LHS D? Unless there is another deal in the works, I don't see it. Unless they plan on playing 7D or sitting one of Chariot, Zadorov, or Kylington I am not too sure what the logic is here. I can see a deal similar to what we have seen in years past though, 4th for a Fantenburg, Forbort, Gustavson type. That would be consistent with what this team has done.

Your two examples, Neal and Brower, aren't good comparibles. They were UFA signings that did not cost the team anything other than money. They did not give up players/picks/prospects for those acquisitions. Trades and UFA signings are very different and should be regarded as such. The Hamonic or Lazar trades would have been better to point to but in both cases Treliving gave up futures for players with term and control.

There's going to be a lot of stuff said from insiders/journalists over the next week, so I assume there is going to be a lot of triggered posters saying 'Treliving should be fired immediately' for things that haven't even happened or are very unlikely to happen.

What's the ask on Jarnkrok I wonder? IIRC, the Flames could add him without dumping salary. Dunno who sits for him to play, but they could at least send Ritchie down.

If they land Jarnkrok, is it Ruzicka or Monahan on popcorn row?

The Anaheim Ducks are trading defenceman Josh Manson to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for defence prospect Drew Helleson and a 2023 second-round pick.

Drew Helleson looks a pretty darn good prospect.
