No to Gio. Just no. If they pick him up, they will fall apart. The team moved on from him and others stepped up their games, started to lead by example and ultimately the team came together. Bringing him back would disrupt everything the team has worked so hard to build, who goes out if Gio comes back? Who is the team leader if he comes in? Who is the voice of the room?
Don't get me wrong, I really liked Gio and was happy he was here. I still like him and if the team wasn't doing so well, I would welcome him on the Flames but they are doing well without him. At this point, I wouldn't take anyone out of the lineup for Gio.
The team needs to get either a #2 center or at least a depth C like Jarnkrock, or a scoring winger to help the third line out.

Kevin Hayes for Monahan, Peltier and a 1st and/or 2x2nds.
Sign Gaudreau to an extension with his old buddy now in Calgary, sign Chucky and Bread. Dominate for the next 3-4 years, then tear the whole thing to the ground and start over. Start coming out of the basement just as Gaudreau's 8 year contract expires...

I’m pretty slow to pick up jokes… this has to be one right?
1. That’s an insane offer.
2. 4 full seasons at $7.1million…. 4 goals and 8 assists.

Well, the 12 points is in 25 games, FWIW.
Calgary would need to be comfortable that Hayes production would increase playing with Johnny (likely true), but would it be enough to break up the current first line and the lost production from that break up?
Picking up an extra 3 years of that cap hit would be risky to say the least. And how do they fit all that cap in assuming all of the Flames players are signed?
I don't think it was meant as a joke. But it comes from left field to be sure.

More cap, more term, 3 years older, and plenty of solid future assets as part of the deal.
Franchise crippling trade offer right there

Anyone else see LeBrun tweet that said Ben Chiarot to the Flames for Pelletier and a 3rd?

No, but if this happens Brad loses all credibility.
That's a CRIPPLING move long term, Chiarot has NO value and brings nothing to the table.

You guys are missing 1 MASSIVE element here:
Hayes = BIG.
BIG = Good.

Make sure it is a real LeBrun…
This is what he had in his Atheltic article:
Quote:
Elsewhere around the NHL, with the annual caveat that things change quickly:
• I think the Flames remain among the several teams interested in Chiarot. Remember that Calgary tried to get him in the Tyler Toffoli trade last month but couldn’t make a bigger deal work. But the Flames have continued to keep tabs on Chiarot with the obvious issue right now that I think Calgary views the current price as too high. My sense is the Habs have strong interest in Flames prospect Jakob Pelletier, the team’s 2019 first-round pick.

If the Flames add any other players with term over or around $5M, that pretty much spells the end of Gaudreau or Tkachuk for next season, correct?
I mean, the idea was that Monahan's $6M+ would need to go next year to clear room. bringing anything back that cancels that out kind of kills the plan I'd imagine.

And Mangiapane or Kylington. We’re already losing Zadorov likely.

Yep, sadly (and I didn't expect to type that when we got him).

I thought Brad lost all credibility here long ago. This must be the 37th time now.
What was the consensus around here for the Gudbranson signing? I was told he had negative value.
