Actually I changed my mind. It should be help out near the airport, and Bob would be late because they're be no direct tunnel to the arena.

You are 100% right. The questions were framed in an unprofessional manner and weren't really applicable to unveiling her vision for Calgary and so she should have given him nothing to work with. However, she lost her head which she just can't do. It is unfortunate that it had to happen because Calgarians really want to be educated on the visions of the candidates and this was an opportunity that was wasted.

Ok, not to come out in Barb's defense or anything.

But they can't say that she should differentiate between a group of volunteers and this interviewer. They set it up, they're responsible for this guys antics.

His questions weren't insightful or even smart, they were designed to do nothing but represent a candidate in a negative light. If he did that to all them fine, but I would expect that future Candidates won't be catering to that group.

There's no way that Higgin's should apologize or back down, they don't represent her voting block at all, and no matter what her performance would have been I doubt that she would have changed one vote in that group.

While I might be voting for Nenshi, I'm getting a little sick of the thickness that things are getting laid on. There's such a thing as over exposure, and the old question remains, if its too good to be true?

I'm starting to get flashbacks to Obama's campaign where it was long on scripting but upon election he was short on execution.

D.J. Kelly of Lunchbox Theatre said he was shocked by the outburst at his group of arts volunteers, and that Higgins is off the list of people he may vote for.

“As a politician you should be able to differentiate between a group of volunteers and a journalist who just railroaded you,” said Kelly, who’s also a community association president and has moderated election forums.

“The traits that were on display to us there in her comments are not the traits that I would see in a mayor. I would like to think that a mayor has a thick skin, a mayor can be poised under pressure, and certainly in this case she was none of those things.”

I wonder if this is just a symptom of the next generation (25-35) barking at the heels of the old guard.

Just about everyone my age (30) I've talked to has either decided on Nenshi or is leaning towards it - and they are all active on twitter because that's what our generation does.

So it may be a love in, but I suspect it's mostly because Nenshi appeals the most to the demographic that actually thinks Twitter/Facebook matters.

Clearly neither Higgins or McIver think an online presence will matter and their strategies reflect it.

DJ Kelly would never vote for Higgins, no matter what.

If Nenshi loses, I'm going to be very interested in the reaction.

I'm so glad that the mayor has just one vote.

I imagine it will be like the GDT after the Flames lost to the Oilers.

We're all going to jump off the balcony of my condo in our Nenshi shirts. It will be just like the old computer game lemmings!

Except that it'll last three years. Every single thing Mayor McIver does or says will be ripped to shreds here on CP.

Most people have said if he loses, he becomes the defacto opposition for 2013 if things go badly. The one thing that can be said about his campaign, win or lose, is that he has the strongest movement as far as getting people legitimately excited and politically active, and that's huge.

It doesn't matter who wins. They'll get ripped to shreds. Except Bunk will keep defending Nenshi to the death.

I'll be getting a "Not my mayor" shirt with a picture of the winner a la Gaius Baltar "not my president" shirts.

I was considering taking a page out of Reggie Dunlop's book of HAHA gifs. Photoshop McIver or Higgins to salt the wounds.

I actually think Barb has a huge opportunity here....that interview was crap, and I would have to think most female viewers would actually respect the way Barb stood up to that clown and defended a personal friend of hers. Yes she was emotional, however, I am not sure that 50% of the voting public see 'emotional' as a personality flaw. If nothing else, this is the first time I can remember when Calgary municipal politics had any element of interest at all.

I'm sure supporters of Nenshi will be disappointed. Much like open supporters of McIvor or even open supporters of Barb would be if they lost.

I'm sure there will be a handful of people on either side who will say this was a media conspiracy or that so and so torpedoed their campaign or that the non pot smoking - Dexter watchers ruined it for all of us. But for the most part, normal people will just realize that it was an election and the candidate with the most votes won and we'll just go on with our daily lives.

I saw someone call McIver and Licia Corbella (Herald editor) "teabaggers" in #yycvote. http://twitter.com/a_picazo/status/27368900475

/facepalm

I may disagree with voting in McIver, but there is a difference between conservatism and whatever the heck is going on in the USA.
