I wonder if the Seahawks wouldnt take a run at Ben. Carroll can certainly put his stamp on the club in a hurry should he choose to.
With Hasselback there already, the suspension doesnt hurt quite as much.
He has 6 years 66 Million left on his deal (ben i mean)..and IIRC Hasselback is aUFA after this year?

No thanks, I will be disappointing if they pick up Ben. It will also make the Whitehurst deal look even more terrible than it already does. I'm not a fan of Ben.
We have so many needs it would be ridiculous to give up one of our first round picks for Ben. If we did, who would he even throw to? Houshmanzadeh and Branch? Reggie Williams? We're going to be bad for another couple of years and we need to collect as many draft picks as we can and draft good players in positions we need (which is everywhere except linebacker, but with Leroy Hill beating his gf, possible suspension looming that might be a need) and go from there.
There's been some recent articles stating that the Seahawks are trying to accumulate more picks for this draft, which I think is more likely than getting Ben.
But I guess I should prepare myself for the worst, just in case it happens.

Time for me to boo the crap out of Jason Taylor. Can't stand the Jets and anything that comes out of that hell hole of an organization.

According to Schefter the Steelers have contacted the Rams, 49ers, Raiders, Bills, Jaguars, Seahawks and Browns about Big Ben. Confirmed "no's" from the Rams and Bills.

Since the Niners already traded their 5th rd pick, doesn't that count them out? I mean haven't most of the trades involved a 5th rounder somehow?

For those that like this kind of thing...here is Bill Simmons mock draft.
Even if he is wrong it is by far the most comprehensive/thought out one I have seen...including trades and reasons for everything except the lower part. Also a good sense of humor in there.

Thanks for this. Most of Simmons' writing is really good, especially his mailbag columns.
He has a point about Tebow though. He is far more valuable to the Jaguars than any other team at this point. I really doubt he goes in the first round (seems like everyone does), but I expect the Jaguars to be the team that takes him.

He got a shot in at Schefter there.

Man Goodell takes no BS. Good for him in trying to smarten up the players discipline with is brutal in the NFL.

It's draft day boys! YEEEHAW!
So what do you think your team will end up doing?
I think Denver will trade down to #15 and take Pouncey. Mardy Gilyard with one of the two (3 after the trade?) 2nds.

I believe the Packers stay right where they are and hope like hell one of the OG fall to them....which is unlikely. In that case i do think they will go CB with either Haden or Wilson if available...and if they are gone pick the BPA which may be a RB at that point.

I don't even want to hazard a guess. Last year I had a hunch that Pioli would go off the board to try and make himself look shrewd. Either they take a DT at 5 if one is still available. Or they trade down to get a LB. They could go with Berry or Dez Bryant, but I think that is unlikely.
I picture Scott Pioli locking himself in a room, blindfolding himself, then throwing a dart at a board.

Jets will probably trade up since they always do. I expect the best DE or Safety available... Hoping for Earl Thomas or Kindle obviously. If they trade up for a Safety it better be Thomas, they can get Mays where they are at. There's a lot of good DE's in this draft I want them to avoid Pierre Paul, but any of the others that are first round targets are fine with me. If they stay pat either Mays or Jerry Hughes.

Really?
Any particular reason? I ask only because from what i have read and seen, this kid may end up being the best player in the entire draft when all is said and done. His agility is second to no one, and he certainly has nice size.
Just wondering what the knock on him is.

Converting a 4-3 DE to a 3-4 LB already has a high enough bust rate that I would like them at least pick a guy who has more than 1 year under his belt. That is all. He could be incredible, but I think he is too risky for the Jets who are stacked enough on D that they don't need to necessarily hit a homerun just need a good enough pass rusher. I would rather not have another flop. This is also the reason I want Kindle, other than being a Longhorn he played LB in college first than converted to DE (while still playing LB in certain formations). Easier transition.

More and more talk about SEA (GM Schneider was part of the GB management team that'd done so much moving down/picking up picks in the past decade ir so) trading down from #6 and/or #14 to get more picks this year and a first rounder next.
Not sure how I feel about this....sounding like a broken record from last day last year, but I hope SEA isn't again in this high of a draft position anytime soon...so best to take advantage of it to stock up on some top young talent, and plan on winning the weak NFC West (I think they could win even without the high picks' help) for the next few years.

Don't know if this belongs here or in the Tech forum. Meh most of ya probably play this anyways. EA Sports releases the Madden '11 cover. I'm pumped and terrified all at the same time haha. The funniest is the 4 guys in the background, because the guy 2nd to the right is a prominent poster on the Saints board I'm on. We're all giving him props for making the Madden cover and telling him to beware the jinx haha. Congrats Drew!...now watch your knees.

I think the Dolphins trade down with the Eagles. I think the Eagles will want to move so they will swap first rounders and the Fins will get one of Philly's 2nd round picks in the deal.
