Well...the tweet itself does mention that they expect to arrive in Calgary on Wednesday...

The collective gets to enjoy stampede. Yes short showers are worth the city maintaining normalcy. The whole point is we sacrifice nothing so everything stays normal.

So while there political persuasion is not documented it’s not really difference than calling the WEFs right wing. Anti WEF started as a left wing conspiracy anyways.

This is weirder than calgary geo’s original post.

Anyone know if they are using that metal pipe segment as a liner, or if it gets cut in as a replacement, and is thick enough not to need the wire wrap and concrete?

Aren’t both a case of cherrypicking a handful of comments in order to paint your political enemies as nuts?

Again, we’re seeing widespread compliance with water restrictions. This isn’t an example of a community full of ignorant and selfish people - it’s the opposite. You can find the dumb if you go looking for it. But why go looking for it?

Do you actually think those people quoted were “nuts” or “losing their mind” in the same vein as someone touting conspiracy theories?

The poster who quoted them said almost the same thing just days before.

Sadly no, that was an RAF C-17, nothing to do with the pipe.

I've never actually looked at my water bill, we are a family of 3 and looking back at last summer our highest usage was 19cubic meters or 19,000L I'm not sure how that compares to others, 19 was high though with my latest bill being 11 (down from 16 in May 2023)

Yeah I usually go right to gas and electricity when checking out my monthly bill. I will say these restrictions have opened my eyes in that my household was being a little wasteful on a daily basis. Hopefully we can all retain some of these habits long after the restrictions are lifted.

Regarding Stampede. At the presser yesterday it was stated that historical water consumption in Calgary does not change appreciably during the event.

It’s nice of them to not share those numbers. A bunch of people coming from out of town and our water use doesn’t increase ?

I get people leave the city during that time as well, but something seems off. The Stampede itself probably uses a bunch of water.

LOL. Like people started staying home sick after covid, and not going into the office, or sending kids to daycare?

I wouldn't put money on that one...

I'll probably go back to not letting it mellow and not collecting grey water from the shower but I did learn just how much water I could collect from downspouts so I will be getting a few rain barrels.
I also am way more aware of how much water a shower, dishes etc actually uses so I will probably have better habits. Sure I am not the only one.

I'm not sure how much I can reduce re: Dishes, laundry

We always max capacity both Laundry and Dishwasher.

Not to derail this thread, but hoping we get some C-5's again with the G7 event next year. We did in 2002. Now those are some big boys.

The herald said 138k people visit for stampede.
https://calgaryherald.com/news/local...-stampede-rain
It doesn’t seem unreasonable that 10% of calgarians are on vacation for those 10 days of summer to balance it out. You also have to consider that Hotel capacity is fixed and that those 138k might average 3-5 days each so the real impact is half that number

According to this in June Calgary runs about 75% of hotel capacity
https://economicdashboard.alberta.ca...ccupancy-rate/
And this says we only have 15,000 hotel rooms
