Sad that it took them losing their sponsors to do the right thing. Credit goes to everyone who pulled funding. Had they not, nothing would have happened.

Even if you take out all the allegations - the board should all be replaced just by how they handled the firestorm about the allegations. Just untold additional damage to the Hockey Canada brand due to them being obtuse about it all.

Law firms just don’t manage their partners and their outside activities that way.

I disagree.
If a partner in a National Law firm was behaving in such a manner that was bringing disrepute to the individual (and her firm), I think that firm would definitely get involved.
It wouldn't shock me if this is what happened here.
Although I have no knowledge of that.

Well, you can disagree, but I've been a partner at two largish law firms and know plenty more at others, including ones a lot bigger than Aird.
Thing is as well, she didn't "behave" in any particular manner until the fateful interview where she totally stepped in it. I'm sure she was named interim president out of a cynical "we'll name our woman board member to signal we're serious".
Anyway, there's not a whole lot they can do. Ousting a partner at a law firm is incredibly difficult absent criminal behaviour. Usually they are coerced into resigning. No doubt they had a hand in her resignation from HC, though.

I don't think a law firm would make someone a partner if they felt they needed guidance in all the important work they do.

In most firms the qualifications for partner are "do you make us a lot of money" and "is your practice your own - do you increase our business".

That's the way it used to be, but times they are a changing.
Even large producers would be shown the door if there were serious character issues.
And I expect that if Andrea Skinner had continued on the course she was on, she would have lost her firm a ton of business. Hence, I expect they intervened.

Glad that everyone stepped down but it is not enough. I hope all sponsors continue to withhold their sponsorship for the foreseeable future and that Hockey canada is barred from competing in any international tournaments for the next two years including the Olympics. Maybe that will send a message to everyone involved.

It's actually incredibly easy. If a partner is told to leave, they almost always do. There is no use fighting something where you are not wanted.
Subject to what's in the PS agreement, it would normally state that you can simply be voted out without reason.

What a terrible idea. I don't think taking a once in a lifetime opportunity away from a bunch of kids who aren't rapists is the answer but maybe that's just me.
Punish those who you can prove did something wrong instead of throwing a blanket over everybody and lumping them all together.

The original premise was that her firm would have been guiding/advising her on how to handle this mess beforehand. Which I think is highly unlikely.
Wouldn't be surprised if conversations have happened since she bungled things, though.

The two clear candidates I see to lead Hockey Canada going forward are Hayley Wickenheiser and Cassie Campbell.
HW is the Gretzky of woman’s hockey, has an MD from the U of C, has experience running large organisations, and has lived in the hockey business her entire adult life.
Cassie is one of the most decorated Canadian athletes ever and was the governor of the CWHL.
Hockey Canada wants to step into 2022 and be accountable to the rot? These two should be looked at as what can change for the organization.

Well, yeah, I already said that. But (a) poor tone deaf performance in the investigation won't make a law firm ask and (b) even if they did she seems like the type who'd not do it. Then they'd be left with affecting her compensation until she quits.
You can indeed be voted out but most partnership agreements require 80% which is near impossible. I've seen situations where the partner refused under much worse situations and management was pretty helpless. Most partnerships don't want that kind of mess.

I can't comment on Cassie, but as someone who has spent a lot of time around the female game at high levels (had a family member on the radar for the national team) it's time for Wickenheiser to ride off into the sunset. She had a great career on the ice, but her time is over. They need totally new and fresh blood.

I expect most large firms would have seen what was happening and guided her through the process beforehand. It doesn't look like this happened.
It certainly wasn't a surprise that this was coming.

I know you can’t go into specifics, but can you elaborate a bit on that?
