yeah he has a more than respectable .930 save percentage- yet a GAA of nearly 3. Markstrom would have to face nearly 100 shots tomorrow to have them even after 5 games...

Does he think the NHL makes disciplinary decisions based on what the panel says? Then again, maybe they do because there are some pretty bizarre decisions.
I don't doubt that the national broadcasters have a lot of away when it comes to public opinion. 1/10 or less of the what people would self describe themself as a hockey fan, and even less of the semi casual fans stayed up and watched this game, as most are out east. They will all wake up tomorrow and get their game story and playoff pool from the Snet highlights and panel, including the queues and key plays of what happened. If that play is glossed over and downplayed, it won't have nearly the effect and discussion as if it's sold (if a King did it to an Oiler) as the dirty play it was.

That will be the key, does that play make the highlight packages shown in a networks highlight loop tomorrow? The ugly play is pretty clear to see how dirty it is, people won't be swayed by context or extenuating circumstances. My guess is the Oilers, with the sway they seem to have with Rogers, will pressure Snet to downplay it and not have it shown on highlights so the situation gets swept under the rug in the national audience.

Woodcroft would be smart to take his experience and move on somewhere else sooner than later. The job he's done has been good from where they were after the team quit on Tippet, but that won't last too long into next year before the executive turn on him, undermine him, and thus the media turns in him, and the players have no idea what to think and start not to play for him.

He can ask the guy on the other bench when he shakes hands with him in 2 nights about the nightmare of spending multiple years and slowly but surely getting overruled on roster and line decisions from above, stabbed in the back, and name dragged through the media.

Of course, it probably won't be his choice and he'll get punted. Woodcroft doesn't nearly have the sexy name that Lowe wants to have run his team, given the other names he's brought in to run the team, mainly to strut around the league for his own hubris...makes too much sense that it won't be a guy like Babcock.

I'm not sure if I missed some exaggeration or not, but did Ron McLean actually suggest "good luck" to the Kings coming out against the Oilers in OT?

He sure diddly did!

Need someone to merge that clip with the OT kings shift.

I went to bed around 9, tossed and turned. WGrabbed the iPad and checked the scoreboard, 4-4 End of Reg. Got out of bed, drank a glass of water then checked again, 5-4 Kings.

I've never enjoyed insomnia more.

I could watch that overtime all day. Here is recap:

0:00 McDavid and Draisaitl both on the ice to start. Play by play mentions how great they have been together.

0:03 - After a face off scramble the puck comes to Keith who handles it like a grenade. Moore picks it up and dangles past Kulak for a partial breakaway just missing setting a record for quickest playoff goal at the 0:07 mark.

0:08 to 0:52 - Complete domination by the Kings in the Oilers zone on the cycle directing 3 shots at the net. The only Oiler touch of the puck was McDavid for a split second in the corner before giving it away.

0:51 - The Kings start to change on the fly giving the Oilers a reprieve and allowing Yamamoto to clear the zone. Draisaitl and Yamamoto are able to change while McDavid circles away from the bench. Keith and Kulak can't get off because the clear was horrible and a fully fresh LA line is right back on the attack.

1:00 - Kempe walks in and rips a slapper off Smith's helmet. Another close call to end the game.

1:06 - The Oilers clear the zone and their two fresh forwards race ahead. When Kane stumbles the puck turns the other way leaving the tired McDavid, Keith, and Kulak to defend.

1:08 - McDavid fails to contain Kempe, while Keith and Kulak are caught flat footed after wanting to change.

1:12 - Goal!!!!!

Fell asleep during the game. Woke up to a pleasant surprise. And to think this same Oilers team blew the Kings out in back to back games. Haha stupid Oilers
