Never heard the Flames were on Tarasenko. Not saying it isn’t true but would love to see the links or source

They traded that second for Rene Bourque who went on to be a productive player for many seasons

Martin St-Louis says that, from what he's seen, Tyler Toffoli was the captain without wearing the C.

Early returns, but that line looked great. Created a lot of opportunities.

Kind of a shame they didn’t score as a line, though the members got 2 goals. They had lots of chances. Nice feed from Toffoli to Dube, nice pass from Monahan to Toffoli. Monahan to Zadorov as well when that line was on.

Cup or not it's a nice player and a decent contract, good add at the most needed position.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how a year ago, we would've been desperate for a right winger and thrown him onto the top line? Today, we have two of the best lines in hockey that we don't want to disturb (thanks to Coleman/Mangiapane freeing up Tkachuk from driving the second line), and Ruzicka's somehow got a line with Trevor Lewis to not be the fourth line, so onto the fourth line he goes with a guy who is clearly not the same player today, but was still the #1C on the best team in the West three years ago.
We just got the top scorer from a team that went to the Stanley Cup finals and we're playing him on our fourth line. What an embarrassment of riches!

I think the Flames vastly overpaid for toffoli
But that's really good for us
Toffoli back in our division...that's definitely not good for us
Also I don't really see it as an overpaid. A late first, a B level prospect, a late pick and a cap dump really doesn't seem that expensive for a non-rental player to me.
Seemed like a pretty good deal for the Flames to me?
Toffoli is no rental. Still has two seasons after this one at a very good price. For a team like Calgary I think he's worth a good prospect and a mid-late first.
The value he provides for 4.25M makes him so valuable.
The Canucks traded a good prospect in his D+2 and 51st overall for 20 games of Toffoli
The Flames traded a good prospect in his D+2 and ~20th overall for 2.5 seasons of Toffoli.
Toffoli is going to absolutely thrive in Calgary and gets to play us more now.
ThankYouJim
Tanev, Markstrom, Toffoli, all were allowed to walk with ZERO returns.
Only fitting for them to #### on our team for the next few years.
JEB, you're the best GM the Calgary Flames could ask for. No man is more deserving of the GM of the year award than thou.
It’s like Calgary just looked at Benning and went “see what he’s doing? Let’s do the opposite”.
lmao we're officially Calgary's farm team.
if Calgary makes a big playoff push I'll be cheering for them to win it all with so many ex Canucks.
All those guys deserve a cup so bad.
Does Jimbo get a ring if the Flames win the cup? He sure deserves one if it happens.

Great goal Tyler!

Because of COURSE Toffoli scored lol
I'll miss him for sure
Damn I will miss Toffoli, such a good dude. So glad he scored last night, I might even root for Flames this postseason. I wish him all the luck.

The Flames’ plus-48 goal differential now ranks as the league’s fourth-best, behind only Colorado, Florida, and Carolina. All three of those teams are contenders with a capital “C.”
After acquiring Toffoli, the Flames are contenders with a flaming “C.”

I saw a lot to like in Dube-Monahan-Toffoli.
Monahan in particular played with more jump than I’ve seen from him in a while - if he’s able to find his game again, they’re three lines deep and a legitimate threat to win it all.

Writing something off the second it happens is something extra. At least the Flames are trying. Isn't that better than standing pat and having a smaller chance of making a run?
I wouldn't spend more than 5 minutes of my time with someone that negative/cynical.
Obviously only 1 of 32 teams succeeds each year, but the fun is in the gambles like this and the ride there, and that slim chance of it paying off.
Negative historians just rob themselves and others of that fun for no good reason.
