As you rightly pointed out later, I think this speaks highly to the depth of the draft. There are some VERY interesting players that will be available late in round 2. This isn't even considering some guys who had killer numbers in way lesser league, and so don't show up on the NHLe, i.e.Carter Savoie, Matt Benning, Sam Colangelo, Brisson.

Mysak is all over the board because scouts haven't had many looks at him. He didn't come over to the Bulldogs till after the Jr's and only played 22 games. Scouts just didn't have enough of an opportunity to see him play
You're not going to go out on a limb for a player you didn't have enough looks at, just plain and simple. The scouts that did see him a lot more than others still didn't see him much.
I find there's more second hand information passed on about him then information from people that actually seen him IMO

Orcas are in the superfamily Delphinoidea (toothed whales), and are biologically classified as a type of whale.
All orcas are dolphins (Delphinidae family), and all dolphins are whales.
Termites are technically a type of cockroach. As are praying mantis.
Birds are technically a type of reptile. In fact, birds are genetically closer to crocodiles than crocodiles are to lizards.
And that is why the Flames should draft Zary or Bourque.

I don't have a comparable
I'm a fan, I'm not a scout nor do I pretend to be one. Home games I don't see anything because of my vision, so anything outside the offensive zone I can't see. Road games there were roughly 11-12. Road games are the only views that count
Robert Thomas
Arthur Kaliyev
Connor McMichael
Jan Mysak
Jan Jenik
In those 11 games, there just wasn't enough of a sample size to see how he handles situations. There's no question that he can put up points but of the players in the list above the only fair comparable to is Kaliyev. The others I would be comparing their postseason draft year to the draft year and that's not a fair comparison. Kaliyev I've seen a hell of a lot more than 11, to compare that to 11 games doesn't work
I absolutely love him, but we never got to see Kaliyev, Jenik and Mysak play together. And only 11 games, I wouldn't be putting my 1st round pick on that small of a sample size and say that I know that player
Ask me after this season where I can compare him to Thomas, McMichael and Janik's post-draft season and I will have a more solid stance on where I stand
But like I said before, I'm a fan and not a scout. I cheer for players and there's no desire to be otherwise
Sorry if that's not the report you want to hear. My main point was that the amount of views that scout got a Mysak was very low. Half of his games were played in Hamilton and I don't have the sense that any one team had a strong presence other than three. There just was too much going on at the time

And Pill Bugs aren’t insects, they’re a crustacean, more closely related to Lobsters.
That’s why the flames should draft a player with an exoskeleton who can roll himself into a ball when in danger.

Sounds to me like a potential home run pick if he drops to the second round.

Very interesting. Brian Burke is reputed to be a dinosaur but now I wonder if he isn’t a flightless bird.

Ryan Kennedy @THNRyanKennedy
This is great: I’ve been told the NHL is sending every team’s hat to potential first-rounders so they can wear their new team’s logo when they get drafted this year, even though it’s remote.

I joked they'd send jerseys but this was expected. Just like the NFL did.

Dinosaurs are birds (at least theropods evolved that way).

What's your top 19 picks guys? I really hope we keep the 19th pick, because any of my top 19 would be a great player on the Flames:
1) Lafreniere (LW)
T2) Byfield (C)
T2) Stutzle (C/LW)
4) Rossi (C)
5) Raymond (LW/RW)
6) Holtz (RW)
7) Drysdale (RD)
8) Perfetti (C)
9) Askarov (G)
10) Lundell (C)
11) Jarvis (RW)
12) Mercer (RW)
13) Sanderson (LD)
14) Bourque (C)
15) Amirov (LW)
16) Holloway (LW)
17) Lapierre (C)
18) Quinn (RW)
19) Zary (C)
HMs: Gunler, Nybeck, Schneider
After the top 10, the 11-19 can go in any order (one of these can be a Flame). I'd be happy with any of those prospects. Fingers crossed Treliving retains the pick.

I’m expecting one of Zary, Bourque, or Lapierre.
Would love it if Mercer falls but I don’t see it.

You never know. I didn't think Barzal would fall to #16 in 2015 or Veleno to #30 in 2018. They both had injuries that took them out for a good chunk of their seasons. Maybe we can get Mercer that way but I agree that he likely isn't there at our pick.

Triple F,
I've been keeping a running list of my personal draft order for the last couple of weeks. It's continually changing as I see new information on each player. I have the first two rounds (as I would pick them) that I'll post before the draft.
Right now, two of your top 10 arn't in my top 10, and I see quality in the top 37 before there is a real drop. It's crazy. From 38 to 62 there are so many high risk/high reward players.
