ST: SNW has cast Captain Kirk and I'm really not a fan of this so far. He looks lanky and more like Gary Mitchell to me.

Then again, Peck's Spock looks nothing like Spock so maybe this will be okay?

I was hoping that they wouldn't bring Kirk into this one, I mean over exposure of course, but its like the complaint in Star Wars that everything goes through the Skywalkers.

TBF he's not appearing until season 2.
And generally it's probably more important than they get the character right rather than just casting someone that looks like the original actor.

I'm surprised they didn't just cast Chris Pine. But I'm guessing you'd probably have to pay him a lot more.

That last STD episode was a colossal turd. When it was resolved, and 15 minutes remained, I knew I was in for a load of smarmy trash, and boy, did they deliver.

I thought it was alright though I could so without the emotional stuff. I am just happy that they are working on some original ideas. It’s like the Star Wars prequels. They’re garbagy movies, but at least they expanded its respective universe. This is better than Picard in some respects, where they basically have managed to rehash ST:IV down to Rios basically being Chekov. I am waiting for their “transparent aluminum” moment.

Basically this year was a re write of last year. A destructive phenomenon caused by someone that didn't know it was doing harm and had to be befriended to stop doing it.

At least this time it wasn't a angry baby, so I guess that's progress.

They at least held off from naming Michael as the President of the Galaxy, I expect that to be next years story where Discovery becomes a tense political thriller where Michael runs in the election with her crew mates making up her election staff.

That 3rd episode of Picard definitely recalled Voyage Home a little bit. But overall I'm enjoying this series a hell of a lot more than Discovery. It's a fun show.

I thought it was funny how they were all gentle with very simple sentences that could be turned into mathematical equations, and then they get face to face and it's a 5 minute brain dump. Uh, ya, just gonna turn that to math now. The initial concept was interesting, but they got bored with it and tossed it out the window.

They really needed to do the freaky time travel CGI from TVH though

I don’t know if it was worth regurgitating all of “Arrival” though.

So… more ST:IV conjuring! Was that actually Kirk Thatcher in the episode?

Bets that the “event” is whale related?

It sure was Kirk Thatcher.
Loved the Jackson Roykirk reference.

I forgot his name and wrote “Colin” and then saw the credits that it was “Kirk” and remembered Colin Thatcher was *totally* the wrong guy.

I thought about that myself. I expected her to greet Picard like she knew him from Time’s Arrow

edit: though it has been explained by the writers that the timeline was changed, so Picard never travelled back to San Francisco to meet Guinan.

With how they’re setting things up in pretty sure the future / new Borg queen from episode 1 is Agnus - like she allows herself to become fully assimilated in the past but finds some way to reform the Borg into good guys

That punk rock guy in the bus is an all-timer of a callback scene
