I would agree that the hit could have been called by a ref if it was helmit to helmit.
But i dont think that the replay had enough evidence to overturn the non call on the field.
It is rare to see a roughing the passer called when a a qb gets hit immediately after the ball leaves his hand and the player lands on him from a tackle in the cfl.
There have been a few in the nhl this year.

It just feels natural to share this common hatred for the Riders. You guys just make it too easy
Circus management, classless players, obnoxious foaming-at-the-mouth fanbase... from top to bottom, you couldn’t find another club in the CFL who’s hated more than the Roughriders

Don't forget TSN constantly fawning over them during games, on social media, and on their recap shows.

There was an article on TSN about a new football league starting up — the Alliance of American Football (AAF). Never heard of it until now, but there is concern in the CFL about the player pool being much more limited next year as players can make more money in the AAF versus the CFL:
https://www.tsn.ca/a-closer-look-at-...ball-1.1189760
Frankly, I don’t see them lasting more than a few years (like all of those who have tried previously), and would be surprised if they don’t end up losing a ton of money in the process, but it could still impact the game up here... thoughts?

There are two leagues starting up, the AAF and the XFL and it will have a major effect, first of all because of the difference in pay and pay in American dollars and second because the AAF is going to go hard after the better college players and NFL cuts. This will effect the Canadian game in terms of Quarterbacks and skills players.
What you will also see is the AAF and XFL going hard after the better CFL players. I wouldn't be surprised if they go after some of the more dynamic QB's from up here, a guy like Alex Singleton could suddenly be looking at a 200k American contract.

It would totally bum me out if we lost our talent to more lucrative American leagues. The CFL has too much history for that. Ugh

The $250k us contract is for 3 years not 1.
This might actually work in favour of the CFL in terms of QBs and other star players. Sign their all-star QBs after 3 years who can't crack the NFL, as the max contracts is nothing the AAF can compete with.
Quote:
The league won’t lose any of its current crop of star players, since the AAF isn’t going to be competitive with what top veteran CFL players earn, which can range from about $150,000 to $550,000 for marquee quarterbacks.
|
Also i highly doubt either leagues can last more than 2 seasons.

Yeah, I think CFL salaries should be higher. I’d be willing to pay more for season tickets to support this. I know some fans who would not.

This is going to be a big problem for the CFL. Not the QB, but at the WR/RB and defensive positions. These guys are the majority of the talent in the league and a lot are getting paid peanuts (especially when you factor in the FX rate). The way the league is structured now, outside of QB, the real money is mostly pushed out the Canadian OL. If I was an American skill player that would honestly enrage me. You could fill those OL slots for half the price if it wasnt for the ratio.
Another big problem is the ability to leave for the NFL. CFL players have to sign a two-year deal, and as we seen with Wilder in T.O. Some teams are #######s about it.

Boy SJ Green would have looked good in a Stamps uniform right now.

Probably would have played a quarter than tore his ACL the way things are going. Probably better for him he didn’t get traded here.

Looks like the Riders forgot to pack their horseshoes before they traveled to Winnipeg for today's game.

TSN sounds like they're describing point after attempts on these big plays for the Bombers. Hilarious.

Great play call by the Bombers, but Dressler may be hurt (perhaps just winded, he landed on the ball in the endzone).

Wow, what a run by Streveler. Bombers knocking on the door again. Dressler is back by the way which is good news obviously.
