Problem is we're nowhere close to first.

Sure would've been nice if we were down 4-1 going into the 3rd instead.

Many of you are not Flames fans but are just fans of winning.

Just Oiler ATL fodder as far as I’m concerned.
Sure, This is a massive divisional game that could bury the Oilers where they stand, yet the team doesn't have the balls to stomp on their proverbial throat.

Now they're getting blown out and will be a whopping 5 points back of CGY. Add to that, this is the second time they've been stomped in 5 games. If the Flames won, Oilers are 9 points back and facing a huge mountain to climb without their #1 goalie. Instead, we just became the defibulator.

The frustrating thing for me is the Oilers have sucked all season long. How many regulations wins do they have this season? Looking like it will be 2 now vs the Flames. What *angers* me watching this is you would think the Flames have been the ones stinking up the league so far this season, not the Oil. This is embarrassing to say the least.

What is GG's record vs the Oil as the Flames coach so far?

>:-(

Johnny Gaudreau is third in scoring and signed for five more seasons including this one for an amazingly-low cap value. Monahan is signed for six more.

He managed to swindle Don Sweeney out of Dougie Hamilton.

He's made some very savvy UFA signings, like Michael Frolik, Kris Versteeg, Michael Stone, and Jaromir Jagr.

He brought up Mark Jankowski and Brett Kulak at the perfect time.

He traded for Mike Smith, easily the second-best Flames goalie of the century. He signed Chad Johnson, easily one of the Flames' best backups of the century.

Even his mistakes, like trading for Brian Elliott or signing Troy Brouwer, have been more on the players than the GM. Elliott was a proven, multiple All-Star calibre goalie in St. Louis who was maddeningly inconsistent here. Brouwer was a consistent 20/40 player before seemingly falling off a cliff two months into his tenure here.

Trading for Travis Hamonic looks like it could be a tricky deal to gauge for now, but he's adjusting to a new team -- remember how much we hated Hamilton after his first half-season here?

Hiring Gulutzan was a very divisive move and continues to be to this day. Many people hate it, many others do not. I won't be able to convince anyone that it was a good idea.
Yup this reads like standard the Treliving apologist script. Understand you disagree but the results on the ice speak for themselves. A world class GM - or whatever you propose he is - doesn't manage mediocrity which is plainly what the Flames have been for the past 3 seasons.

The Flames are six points out from first with two games in hand. They're in contention. I think the top lines need to be more consistent and the defense needs to be more effective, and that the coaching staff, sans Gulutzan, should all be fired -- but I'm a fan of Gulutzan's system and I don't believe either he or Treliving is the problem.

Why are you defending this garbage. You know what would be awesome right now if we somehow got rid of our whole d core who are the worst in the league.

The Flames are going to score a few softies to end this game on a bad goalie to make this look better than it actually was.
