I get that in a lot of the old tuners already. At default settings, goalies always seem to end up with Spiderman-esc reflexes. The system I play seems to finally get to ~9-12% shooting percentage on average, but even now very few goals from my team end up as legitimately just getting past the goalie with a high percentage shot...most of them are rebounds, deflections, or one-timers (Then again, I play automatic shot targeting, so that could have something to do with it)

It looks like with the recent update they made the CPU even more god-mode (aka the AI is so ridiculous that you will kill yourself within seconds).

I can take a smarter CPU, but the constant interference that is never called, the snipes from the blue line, the impossible odds of actually knocking them off the puck, your AI being as dumb as Paris Hilton on drugs, just makes it stupid.

Anyone playing Be a Pro Mode managed to successfully request a trade yet? Doesn't seem to matter what my stats are, the reply is always "we can't get a new washing machine for you, prove your worth". This is having 130 goals in early January.

The stupid setting we have for GM Connected, Superstar.

That's why I have been recommending making the CPU All-Star like the Playstation league (where people actually vote and discuss rather than act like a dictatorship). Superstar is just dumb with how EA programmed them to play God Mode.

Sounds like the seed has been planted for a coup. Gather your like-minded comrades and create a new league. Bonus points if it use the NWO theme league-wide as your entrance music.

Thought I'd put my 2 cents in a little late cause I've been gone.

I was really looking forward to this game, it promised a lot of things and boasted that it would be the closest thing to real life evvveeerr.

Its also the first NHL game that I've completely given up on this quickly.

Where to begin.

Oh the suction stick. That puck is magnetically attracted to the opositions sticks at all time. I can have a 5 foot seperation between my guy and his opponent and bang that puck is gone to his stick and he's heading up the ice lickity split.

The hitting, me 6'3" 220 defensemen with a 99 speed and 90 strength and 90 check runs into a tiny man like Sam Gagner. Heh heh he prepare to die Sammy baby! Holy crap my guy bounced off and I think he's dead.

The samr frustration with play making, I break into the zone along the boards and start a cycle, meanwhile my other two forwards stare at me with a blank look on their face and their mouths wide open while they happily stand beside their checks and chatter about their new cars.

Oh and don't get me started on the frustration in terms of goaltending my guy allows clean shots from the blue line and the boards, their guy, 9.9 svpct and I'm shooting from the slot, picking up rebounds to roof and watching as either my 99 accuracy wrist shot guy puts it into row 22 or the goaltender comes out of nowhere.

And the most annoying thing about BAP. you don't score or get assists at all in games that you simulate.

I could stimulate 30 games and as a defensemen have like 15 goals and 30 assists and the rest of the way get 1 goal and no assists.

Bah, the game est terrible

My teammate defensemen are laughably stupid too. Routinely, I'll win the draw at center ice back and the guy with the puck will...freeze, bow to pressure, skate all the way back into the zone and then give it up by rimming it to no one on the boards or losing a puck battle.

Winning the faceoff in the defensive zone can result in ridiculously bad results too.

It's like every defender on your team is Anton Babchuk or Anders Eriksson.

I'm trading this sucker in this week.

I am enjoying the game, but had to adjust some sliders. couldn't seem to score, hit, stop the other team from scoring in the last minute, or stop taking penalties. meanwhile the other teams couldn't be hit, could score on kipper at will and would never take a penalty. so I upped hitting power for player up, for cpu down, speed of game up, took out penalties totally, upped my shot accuracy and lowered the computers, and voila, 5 game win streak in gm mode. Oh and I set the shot aim to automatic. Flames are moving up...hehe. it helps to adjust the sliders to a point where it is still challenging, but you can enjoy it. when you get to good, then adjust back

it's hard for me to tell if it's the gameplay itself or the lack of an nhl season, but i have given up on this year's game the earliest i ever have, despite not thinking it's necessarily the worst iteration to come out in years past.

i got madden to give me my sports game fix till the superbowl, then will likely trade both nhl/madden in for assassins creed III...

EA have lost it a bit in my opinion...

With the main rosters missing players I thought I would concentrate on BAP this year, starting in the OHL. In the most part it has been fun, with a lot of the frustrations already mentioned in this thread, but the one thing that is really beginning to make me scream at the TV is the holding in the slot.

If you go anywhere near the front of the net or the slot and there is a defenceman nearby you cannot move an inch, you seem to be locked together before he finally dumps you on your arse. Where is the holding penaly, the interferance penalty? Your teamate can be battling on the boards, ther puck comes free and you cannot go for it because the CPU player is holding you back, whats that all about.

It is the one thing driving me mad.

This has been an issue for NHL for years.

In Be a GM mode, faking shots is likely to get all your players in the slot bumped (and smaller ones thrown to the ice) and no interference will be called. Yet, if my team glides into the defender after, he'll get called.

The pace of the online game is absolutely atrocious for this NHL. I really hope they get it fixed in the next game but my hopes aren't very high for that as the game has gotten slower and slower for the past few years. It's a shame that you can't play a high shooting percentage game anymore and all this game is about is getting as many shots as possible and hoping you've picked a corner.

I played it a ton, won the EASHL playoffs with my team. I've quit it entirely now though, I really didn't like the positioning system of the d-man.

the AI isn't smart enough to make your guy recognize the way he should be standing, a simple button to trap the puck on the boards with the side of the skate when a pass is coming would make it so much easier to not let the puck fly by you if your stick is magically teleporting through half the boards. The whole defense system needs a work over in my opinion, I really wanted to be a Chara like bruiser that could muscle everyone out of the front of the net but it was impossible.

Problem is I only liked playing D and they made it so hard to do that enjoyably to the point that it became skating back and forth with the odd poke check and a hit here or there if the opposing offense really sucked. They have to figure a way to balance out the poke checking with actual defensive ability, if you're 260 pounds it should be a lot easier to stop a 170 pounder from skating directly to the net. It'll have to wait until next gen when they can improve the physics of the balance of the players because now it's clearly flawed, hell half the time people get checked they bounce around like bowling pins. It'd be cool if they had a system for the defense like the goalie has with a purple arrow so you can focus on controlling the forwards positioning. The way it is now you want to stay lined up with a guy and your player turns around when you don't want him to, even worse is when you need to turn around to stop an odd man rush but there's no button to do that and you're screwed.

I find this thread odd and feel like most of the comments apply to last year's supremely ####ty version. This year is awesome, way more realistic and I find it a lot easier and more realistic to score.

I think people are just used to scoring a certain way for years, and now it's different where you'll be more successful by being creative with plays, trying to open up space by supporting your teammates and taking as many shots as possible. I like that rebounds are a focus on how to score, and trying to purposely plant shots that cause rebounds is effective.

The online mode, with the gm mode, could be faster by a factor of a million. It feels like I could select it and go to another room for an hour and by the time I'm back it still won't be ready to go.

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the camera view of BAP or are you supposed to play it with the on ice view?? I tried changing it in the settings but nothing seemed to happen.

I only ask because I am getting sick of not being able to see what the player with the puck is doing unless I am 6 feet away. Makes it difficult to go to the right place for a pass.

Any ideas??

Yep, there's a way to do it. Load the BAP. In the BAP menu go My Pro/Settings/Visual Settings/Offline BAP Camera. If it's showing the schedule press start to get the BAP menu.

To do the same thing for Online BAP (EASHL) at the main NHL13 menu you go to My NHL 13/Settings/Visual Settings....
