Yeah, it's going over into the theatre of the absurd in the other thread. If you have something rammed that far up your ....Maybe you shouldn't be looking up that on the internet or talking about it on a forum. Also, who will be designated as "police" over there? What line is drawn? Who decides? And what if they are wrong? They pretty much want to outlaw anything to do with discussing anything beyond "Man, what a great episode last night!" with a chorus of "Yeps!" to follow.
I look at that series of pics that someone posted about the Purple Wedding. According to their rules, that would be completely legit to post (Have none of these people ever seen a Literary Major who enjoys a tv show go to work dissecting it? I have...it's amazing what someone of that mind can glean out of the smallest action). But they went ape.... over that, saying the guy who posted it intentionally posted spoilers, just because they couldn't figure it out for themselves. But, even according to the most strict "rules" they tried to post, that post would have been acceptable. It contained not a single thing that was not only in the show, but in a past show. So that's ok.
I think that they are wound way too tightly in that thread, and that they need to go, actually. That's become a rather toxic environment with anyone who posts anything that isn't what "they" agree with bullied and harassed (and now possibly suspended/banned). Especially on something that can be a judgement call, and is based on knowing the intention/mind of the poster.

It's hard to believe people can take a TV show that seriously.

The thing is, there are so many things posted that aren't really spoilers in the sense that they don't give away plot points but they do give away that something is imminent.
That is the thing about this franchise - the big thing that got a lot of people hooked was that the lead, arguably the main character, was killed off before the end of the first book.
I know I went back and re-read it twice just to be sure that he really was dead, and even then I was expecting some sort of switch to have happened.
If I had a hint that something had happened it would have lessened the impact.
And that is why I sympathise with what the TV only watchers are asking - they want to experience that shock, that surprise, that magic too. Only they can't. Even if it isn't explicitly spoiled, someone outside the show letting them know something is (or isn't) going to happen can taint their enjoyment. There are complaints about storylines going slow now - telling them there are 2 more books of character growth and very little plot progression for some characters won't go over well.
I think what they are asking for is pretty much impossible. I understand the desire for it, but for a popular show that is based on a series that was written 5+ years ago and is still popular in its own right, there are minefields of implicit and explicit spoilers everywhere. But all they are asking is that we don't throw grenades at their feet.
And Pho is correct - moderating to try and keep a thread spoiler free is a fools errand. How can you ever know for sure if it is a good guess or a spoiler? Especially when things have become so hyper-sensitive that moderating will be a source of confirmation.

And if djsFlames is being honest in his recent post, then a lynch mob went after someone innocent.
Has he only read the first 2 books? Who knows. But that is the extreme difficulty in moderating that thread.

Personally I think he is being honest (but then that's my default reaction to everything), if you read what he wrote with the whole "read only two books in mind" then when he says:
"There's no way George doesn't write in a Dany attack on King's Landing in the last books. Why have her a central character then? "
It could totally be taken that way. Either way. And if it can be taken either way, either he deliberately designed the post to be ambiguous, or it just ended up that way. Hanlon's Razor applies.

I don't see how saying that she doesn't move on Westerns in the foreseeable future is a spoiler, especially after she confirmed that she was settling in to rule in Mereen.
If someone had "let it slip" in season 1 that she'd spend several seasons over the narrow sea, would that have "spoiled" the Dothraki, dragons, Slavers Bay, Unsullied, etc., etc., etc.? Not in my mind.
There's a bunch of people in there throwing fits over everything.

For a series that markets itself on "anyone can die," yes, I think alluding to their whereabouts several seasons down the roads is easily spoilers.
Overreactions or not, it shouldn't be difficult to just keep out of that thread with book talk.

That thread is horrible and pretty much un-readable now.
So when is Cat being brought back as a zombie? And why don't they do that with more people?

It's not easy and costs them the other dead fellow? Didn't Dondarrion have to finally die so that Cat could become Stoneheart?

I have no idea, I haven't read the books. Yzerman spoiled it for me in a PM, ha.
The one guy got ressurected after the duel with the Hound, and no one else had to die?

^^ Dude, that blows.
But since you're asking...Thoros of Myr (Red Priest) was always with Beric Dondarrion when he was fatally killed and was able to immediately resurrect him. Cat on the other hand, was killed and thrown into a river where she sort of started to decompose before she was discovered. Therefore, it required more power/magic/religion to bring her back. Also remember, not every Red Priest can do this. Melissandre (Stannis' Red Priestess) was shocked last season when she discovered Thoros was resurrecting Dondarrion.
The reveal of Cat takes place in the epilogue chapter of the 3rd book so for the ultimate cliffhanger, it is entirely possible it will be the last scene of the season but there's no way to know for sure.

Crap, now I feel bad, though you are in the "spoiler" thread. I had to check to make sure after you said you hadn't read it. I don't want to be lynched/banned.

I'm not broken up about it, I don't really care about spoilers very much.
Plus this thread actual discussion happens, instead of constant whining and complaining in the other one.

On top of that though, it did require whatever power Beric had in his body, as he did die (without a res) so that Cat could be brought back. The resurrection power isn't granted lightly.

Makes sense then. I only asked because I was thinking they could have resurrected Ned and Rob as well, but since it isn't easy that pretty much takes care of that.

There's also the fact that Ned and Rob had their heads cut off.
That has to increase the degree of difficulty.

Fair point, but Rob did have his wolf's head sewn onto his body so the effort could have had a huge pay off.

I really hope it's the last scene in season 4 - that would give the audience something to think about for the next 10 months!
Plus, it would be way better then the "MYSA, MYSA" ending of the last season.
