You can predict:
- Two trades
- Two UFA forwards
- Two UFA defencemen
- One UFA goalie
- Who we pick in the 1st and 2nd round (or if we deal the picks)
and then post your roster?
|
You should set it up. It would cut down on some of the clutter, and that's always a good idea.

My first prediction for free agency is contingent on Markstrom hitting the market. I do believe if he hits the market the Flames will offer the biggest contract of any team in the mix and if that is the case they will win the sweepstakes.
Treliving will want to put an end to the goalie carrousel so I do believe finding a legit starter is the top item on his to do list. It would be nice if the Flames could get this one done early in the day so it can help build the case....
The Flames have a shot in the Taylor Hall negotiations but are not the near lock I felt like they were during the shutdown. Calgary has the hometown appeal and opportunity to stick it his old team that gave up on him by helping their arch rival try and win the cup. Having the Geoff Ward factor and hopefully leverage that relationship and testimonials from the current core members of the team of what Ward has brought to the group.
The Flames also need to be prepared to offer max term and a heavy bonus laden contract so they put their absolute best foot forward.
If this team is able to bring in Hall and Markstrom in free agency it allows Treliving to do So much with his current mix of players to alter the group further. He could acquire some picks/prospects and high end futures for 2-3 years down the road when they need to sign Tkachuk. He could also look at some hockey deals to remake the blueline.

Aaron Ward is saying that the Hurricanes rejected an offer from the Leafs that would see Freddie Anderson and 15th go to the Canes for Dougie Hamilton. Laughter and then the hanging up of a phone.

If I had my way it would be 1 of Korpi or Murray. Youth wins the day, they re sign Talbot and move Ritter.

This idea that they will give him away, because they have to, is off the mark IMO.

Can't find it anymore, so maybe I imagined it, but thought I read somewhere that Hjalmarsson declined to waive a no-trade clause.

Johnny never conclusively insisted on shorter term. All indications suggested he simply wanted higher AAV whereas tre was hyperfocused on the imaginary Gio cap.

Tyler Johnson on the move?
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Hearing that Tampa Bay has talked to Tyler Johnson’s camp about working together on a possible move. Johnson has a full no-trade clause. Let’s see where this goes.

This should come as a shock to no one.
They need to move some of the immense depth they have.

Just my opinion, but I think we need to get bigger and harder to play against. TJ doesn't help us in that regard. At this point in his career, I don't think there's too much he can do that we can't get from Mangiapane or Dube-I would rather let them develop.

In case anyone was concerned the Flames may have an internal budget because of COVID-19; Treliving on 960 says they have the green light to spend to the salary cap.

thoughts on Fleury and Stastny for Lucic and Ryan?
Saw they were offering Fleury + 2nd and have not had any takers. This saves them over $5 mil on cap.

If I were to “reach” through the words Tree has said so far, Noah Hanifin is going to be traded, or at the minimum isn’t viewed as one of this teams top 3 defencemen going forward.
He spoke of Gio, Andy, and then Vali. He spoke of Noah “as only being 23” and Mackey in the same breath.
Yeah, it’s a reach - but given that he’s already tried to deal him once, I will not be surprised to see Noah moved this week.

IMO He’s the biggest chip we have not named Johnny.
I’m hesitant about the idea, but I imagine the return will please me.
