The current state is not the forever state.
Huberdeau is not a 50 point player going forward. He's probably not a 100 point forward but something in between.
The best thing for everyone is for them to figure it out. Which may require the coach and the player getting on the same page for the player to succeed without compromising the core of what the coach wants.
If Huberdeau wants to be traded at some point, his path to that is playing better. A single season back close to PPGs will make him a moveable asset again.
What we are seeing this season won't be the way this plays out for years. Something will change.
- He will play better and then be traded or not
- Or the coach will be gone.
At this stage no matter how much the team and owners like the coach, they have much more invested in, for a much longer period of time in the player.
At some point that will start to matter. Not saying now. But it will.
