Whoo only about 340 more posts in this thread until There's something in the water!
Curious to civil oil fans around here (oilfan81, stang), is it killing you guys that flames are #1 in the west? Or are you like meh whatever? Or are you actually cheering for us a little now.
Just genuinely curious..

I think for most Oiler fans, especially ones who have spent their prime fandom years (last 25 years), the Oilers have destroyed their will in terms of Oiler hockey. I imagine most are rather numb and fed up with what has transpired.

God bless this franchise... they are so brutal, but now they will convince themselves that Draisatl is worth his contract and they will keep him around this summer, when the only logical thing to do would be sell high on a guy who is way too expensive, and they will forever remain in salary cap jail.
And can't wait for Chaisson to get 2 years at 2.5 per

@lowetide I've mentioned this a few times, Imo Keith Gretzky is getting closer to becoming the de facto general manager of the Edmonton Oilers. Not an endorsement, but an observation based on years of watching the team do its business. IF they win (say) 10 of the last 20, I believe he's in

Given that Nicholson put himself in a situation with his comments about the organization not interviewing for the GM position since Sather, he's going to have to interview outside candidates to appease fans (apparently there are lots of suites up for renewal) even if it's just a formality so they can come back and say Keith Gretzky was the best candidate.

Uhh....if Kris Russel gets $4X4 then Chaisson probably starts there.
He is the 4th highest scorer on the team afterall.

That would be awesome. Nicholson on record saying they usually just target one guy, this time will be different, comprehensive search for surezees. Oh what's this? The interim guy was the right guy all along? At least he's not part of the OBC, if such a thing exists. It does? He is? Well it looks like we are really good at developing guys! Course corrected!

How on earth does a GM a get credit for mediocre hockey over such a short timeline and during garbage games after making no impactful moves?

lmao the guy's barely been on the job for a month and has had next to zero personal impact on the present day roster. What on earth does their success down the stretch have anything to do with his likelihood of landing a permanent position?

When you start with the absolute ####stain that was the 18-19 Edmonton Oilers its not hard to suggest that improvements were made simply by doing nothing...because you can do nothing.
He cleared out salary to activate Sekera...because he had no choice.

If they make GG the head coach I bet Chiasson doubles his asking price because he knows he'll get it for sure.
