Weeks after the Flames had lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, the powers that be at Calgary Puck moved the board to a new platform. As a commemoration of this event, Bertuzzied opened the inaugural "Edmonton is No Good" thread on 28 July, 2004, with the following, now immortal words:

So great. This post should be pinned. Not kidding.

I kinda hope the Oilers go on a little winning streak. Just long enough to trade some futures and buckle their cap in 2 years. I mean there has to be someone they can buy out right?

Jack Campbell...lost again. 0-2, 4.00 GAA, .826 save percentage. The highlights reveal the play without the puck down there is consistent with the Oil. Giveaways and odd man rushes galore.

Campbell currently costs them 3.85 for the next 4 years if he's in the minors and 5 if they bring him back. They practically have to buy him out if he's not playing up. That will cost them between 1.1 and 2.6 over the next 6 years (the hit varies depending on his year).

Just as James Neal rolls off. Love it.

Also, best of luck trying to get any UFA goalie (or in-house RFA) to sign after this.

Draisaitl fined $5000 for trying to injure Horvat last night with a cross check to the back of the knees.

*tripping apparently

If they want to keep the max fine in place of suspensions they need to at least up it. Maybe relate it to the player's salary per game. One game for Leon is $97,561.

I’ve been saying this for years. The fine should be the same as if a player got suspended, they just don’t have to sit out. The way it is now the difference between a 5000 fine and one game is massive

The max fine is really just a warning that remains on a player's record in case they do something suspension worthy so that that suspension is longer due to "prior history". What they need to do is make those "prior history" incidents true multipliers - if Draisaitl gets suspended for a stick incident like a cross-check, the suspension should be tripled.

In the CFL, max fine is half of a game cheque.

$5000 is ridiculous. It would be like fining someone a loonie for a traffic violation.

How many of these warning does he have documented now? Spearing guys in the nuts seems to be a forte of his, probably because he doesn't have a set himself.

Bottom line is that every team in the NHL should skate up to Drasaitl in the pregame and tell him that whatever he does that's cheap is going to be done to McDavid.

Draisaitl is a coward and a spot picker.
