Seems like McDavid isn't happy and this firing had nothing to do with him.
Nah this is just PR spin to make what is, even in Greaserville, clearly a dumb arse nepotistic call to keep McSweatpants and Pharma Boy Owner happy, there is no way in hell any one signs his Jr coach with no NHL experience unless McSweatpants asks for it, Holland may not care at this point and just be cashing a cheque but even he isnt that numbed to hockey or just business management reality

The worst thing in Calgary Puck history was when some mods shut down the Edmonton is no good thread out of respect for the Edmonton Oilers for a few days. When was that?
It was after the Oilers defeated the Kings late in the season to clinch the Flames a playoff spot in 2015... Then, a couple weeks later, they won the McDavid lottery.
Moral of the story, there must always be an E=NG thread on the front page of Calgarypuck.

Either reality is delicious. Either McDavid has an insane amount of influence with how the organization is being run, and is pissed that they've allowed that to be known, or he's pissed because he wasn't involved.
Yum yum either way.

At 5:30 in the video with that one comment, it’s 100% true and likely the legitimate downfall of McDavid staying. He hates this coaching hire, people are going to think it was him that demanded this but it wasn’t. I think he liked Woodcroft, never thought he was the problem.
I wouldn’t be shocked if he requests a trade as soon as this offseason if this season doesn’t get turned around.
Gather 'round, Younglings, and let me tell you the epic tale of Edmonton is No Good.
The story of this fabled movement has deep roots, stretching back to the summer of 2004. Weeks after the Flames had lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, the powers that be at Calgary Puck moved the board to a new platform. As a commemoration of this event, Bertuzzied opened the inaugural "Edmonton is No Good" thread on 28 July, 2004, with the following, now immortal words:

This followed with 32 more entries, and then the thread was abandoned—lost to the Lock Out, and then the Dark Time in 2006, when the Oilers somehow found themselves riding the creaking limbs of Dwayne Roloson deep into the playoffs.
Nearly ten years passed, and the "Edmonton is No Good" thread was forgotten. But then, by some strange and unexplained stroke of improbability Post #34 appeared on 8 September, 2013:

It was a thread-bump of the most unlikely proportions—the mother of all necro-bumps. But, the astonishing and quickly realized truth of the matter was not Sean Monahan's AHL eligibility, but rather that after nine years, one month and eleven days some things are indeed eternal. Edmonton was just as no-good in 2013 as they were in 2004!
That season in 2013–14 was a banner year for the Oilers that saw the debut of Nail Yakupov, the "October knee-slide," Dallas Eakins's storied start and the first jersey-toss in the Oiler's multi-decade pursuit of respectability. The thread naturally became a repository for all things Edmonton, and it continued into 2015, when the Flames returned to the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time in seven years, and well ahead of the Oilers's ill-fated schedule.
Then, on 7 April, 2015, a miracle occurred. In the midst of yet another lottery-draft quality season the Oilers faced off against the LA Kings, in a game that would determine the playoff-fate of the Calgary Flames. With an Oilers win, the Flames would be off to the First Round amid the delirium of an incredible season that featured improbable player performances, an iconic media-savvy coach, and rookie excitement from a fourth-round future superstar and his toast-loving sidekick.
Ahead of the game, it was suggested by some that the good people of Calgary Puck were in danger of overdosing on the schadenfreude that E=NG had become. It was thought that a seemingly impossible victory in this unwinnable game deserved a gesture of reciprocation—that perhaps the thread should be closed, even if only temporary. So, it happened. The Oilers beat the LA Kings 4–2 in Los Angeles, and the thread was closed after 18,091 posts. The new thread was launched only four days later, after an unsurprisingly pompous and entitled promotion video featuring Propaganda Minister Baghdad Bob Stauffer aired on YouTube.

Never forget, friends. Never forget.

They were never a "lock to win the Cup" they were wrongfully viewed as legitimate contenders. And they will likely be improved under Knoblauch, because they can't get worse. But it rhymes I guess.
I don't buy it frankly, I don't see anyway they don't at least come to him to ask 'what do you think about your old coach from Eirie?' even if it wasn't his idea.
The only way the hire makes any sense what so ever other than him directly asking for the new coach is that they were sitting around asking him which coach he was comfortable with and he mentioned his old Jr coach, he may not have demanded he was hired but there is no way a team that is supposed to be a contender hires a coach out of Jr with no experience at all without there being some external non hockey reason

In the history of E=ng posts, this was the low point. The idea that there could be too much schadenfreude (which wasn't the reason touted at the time). The idea that the Oilers "deserved a gesture of reciprocation" is an incredible fallacy. That felt disgusting just typing those words.
If there was a hockey game played against aliens with the salvation of the world at stake, I'd be cheering for the aliens.
Never close E=ng again.

Saw the oilers won tonight and figured cup parade is back on. Confirmed- TSN already put up an article ‘Is the win against the Islanders the turning point in the season?’.
Slow news day? Who writes garbage like this? Spec, is that you?
Edit: It was oilers cheerleader Rishaug. Just as bad.
He could have cross checked him in the numbers, sending Horvat head first into the boards.
He literally saved Bo from a potentially serious injury!
How in the holy #### is that not a penalty? No refs were looking at NEON (mix in some water your piss looks like kool-aid) Leon while the ####ing puck was right there? That is the bull#### about this ####ing league. What a Dick. What a joke of a league.

Never mind penalty, how is that not intent to injure and worthy of a suspension? Should be sent to the league for review.

It was, called it tripping. Unfortunately Islanders took an interference penalty right off the face-off three seconds into the PP so it's basically like their was no call.
