^^ I have skygazer which has a compass view (kinda like augmented reality but not). Certainly doesn't look that swank.
I picked up allrecipes.com pro app today and have been very impressed. All I wanted was an app that had a companion website for me to enter recipes into and have those recipes show up on my phone. I figured there'd be many but it was harder than expected. I paid for ifood which was a major disappointment as it gave you an online recipe box but only for recipes from kraft (boo). Allrecipes.com pro however works awesome, you can add your personal recipes , turn the phone sideways to go into cooking view (gives swipeable step-by-step instructions), filter search results by ingredient and other stuff. I also like that you can change the portion size and the ingredient quantities will reflect that so you don't have to double/halve the numbers. 5 big stars.
Is there a good, free budget app? I downloaded BudgetTool and I like its layout, ease of use and organization, but for some odd reason I can't enter decimals after the dollar amounts! Am I missing something? If not, does any one recommend a good, free app to record a basic monthly budget?
This isn't going to help you any for the iPhone, but I use MoneyDance for my mac. I did have to pay for it, but it is well worth the price.
Yes I realize that didn't help you at all.

OT request: Don't think this warrants a new thread, but can anyone of you recommend a screen cover for a 3rd gen iPod Touch? I'm definitely looking for a hard shell or silicone type of cover to protect it from drops and in addition, maybe a clear screen cover for scratches. Would also be great if it fits well in the pocket.
This thread may be my new home for a few days while I wait for it to ship. Thanks!

I'd either do the Zagg InvisibleShield thing, or a Crystal Film screen protector. I've found those two to be the best solutions, in my endless search for perfect accessories.

If I want decent protectors for a good price, I buy from monoprice.com. If I want a great price and random quality, I buy it on eBay. I usually get screen protectors on eBay for about $0.10 each. I use the crystal skin hard case from monoprice, and their silicone skins are good too.

Reason: give better monoprice link

The other thing I don't like about this app is that when you enter multiple expenses into an expense category, you can't bring up an itemized list. Does anyone know of any preferrably free budget app that does that and lets you input cents? thanks.
zombie farm has been a pretty entertaining free game. definitely worth a try and doesn't force you to sit down and play for too long. but you always come back.

How is the sleep cycle working out for everyone? I'm pretty skeptical of it and thus have not purchased it.
Everyone has been using it for a few weeks now, and news/reviews?

Seems like it works, I've tried it a few times and I wake up easier, although it does wake me a little bit before when I set it, but i think that's the light sleep cycle wake up thing. the one thing I really like is being able to see my restlessness at night and see how that gauges against how I feel.
I am curious if it's a matter of me wanting it to work and so I think I wake up better...
for 99cents, i'd say at least try it out for a week. you might be surprised, (and zombie farm which is free) For the 2 weeks i've tried it, i'm a current believer until my body tells me otherwise.
I stopped using sleep cycle. I sleep enough that I don't really need it to wake me up in my cycle... I pretty much wake up by myself. Ah, the joys of being in school with late classes.
Sleep cycle has been awesome for me. Almost every day I wake up feeling significantly better than when I used to use an alarm. That being said, I'm curious how much of that has to do with it not having a snooze button ... I always feel a little worse after hitting the snooze button.
In other app news: get plants vs. Zombies. Wow what an addictive game. Holy crap.

It's pretty fun but I find it too easy. I've been playing for a while now and there has not really been a big challenge
Come on, Apple. Don't drop the ball on this one...

Opera Mini for iPhone was officially submitted to the Apple iPhone App store today. A select few first saw it at Mobile World Congress 2010 in February. Now, the “fast like a rocket” browser is taking its first big step towards giving users a new way to browse on the iPhone.
Opera Mini uses server-side rendering to improve page loading performance, claiming speeds of up to 6 times faster than Apple's Safari on the iPhone:
Due to server-side rendering, Opera Mini compresses data by up to 90 percent before sending it to the phone, resulting in rapid page loading and more Web per MB for the end user.
This server-side processing circumvents Apple's restrictions on executing 3rd-party code within an iPhone app. Pages rendered on Opera's servers are passed to the iPhone as a static page in a compressed format that uses less data to transfer than the original page.
Justin.tv just released a free app, they usually have some pretty good streams there that you can now watch on your phone.
It only shows their featured channels unfortunately. So if you want to watch a stream of something like The Office for example, you will have to have an account and then add that channel to your favourites before you can watch it on your phone.
