That's actually not far off.
SE Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore) are putting together a bid for 2034. Four teams that have never even come close to qualifying for a World Cup. But hey, it's half a billion people.
It's a serious bid as Infantino has toured the area and wants more teams with a chance to play in a World Cup. So he wants to expand it to 64 teams and every 2 years.
I'm not kidding.

That's an intersting idea, but it brings up major questions about sustainability, costs, and logistics.
I'd be asking - is there a way FIFA can run a World Cup tournament with One Stadium complex? Is there a way to assemble/dissassemble these stadiums for sustainability? How can the costs be absorbed to get better value?
If it's going to be every two years, then much I think about the Olympics, you might need to look at permanent facilities for these tournaments. Far more sustainable and the proper funding and design can be put into it.
Big questions, but necessary.

. Nine in seven games now.
And on a similar but less impressive note here comes Pastor Fred.

Yeah, Infantino is an idiot. I get the 'money, money, money' but that cheapens what the tournament means and he's behind the times.
Even the infamously corrupt IOC are beginning to understand that they've got start pushing for repeat hosts so they can re-use some of these facilities to keep the costs down.
The days of all these countries printing money to build stadiums and infrastructure seems to be winding down.
Its a large part of the reason the Canada/USA/Mexico bid was so appealing because those nations essentially dont have to build anything from scratch, its a 'plug and play' tournament.

That Serbian woodwork is taking a beating.
And Jesus! The saddest man in the World!

Permanent facilities doesn't get you votes. There are more have-nots than haves in FIFA who will always take a handout.
"Vote for me! Oh you need a training and development center and a new stadium, here you go!"
Locke: The Olympics are different, there are only one of them. But FIFA can promise alot! Men's World Cup, U20 and U17. Women's World Cup, U20 and U17. Regional tournaments men and women, U23, U20 and U17 etc...
And other stuff like Arab Cup, Caribbean Cup, AFF Cup etc...

I'd still be looking for permanent facilities. No need to be building new ones to accommodate tournaments that last three weeks.
I know FIFA won't be game, but the world needs this to be less of a logistic, environmental waste. Because that's exactly what these tournaments are for the most part.
Maybe cycle tournaments through a few sports that are permanent stadiums and arenas with best-of-show facilities for athletes and fans alike.
For the Summer Olympics, it should really just be in Greece every four years. Maybe Central Europe or North America for the Winter games.

So air conditioning open-air outdoor stadiums is not a responsible decision?

The opening ceremonies would be in an 800,000 person stadium, last nine hours, and include no less than 75 missile demonstrations.

Nice showing by Brazil in the second half. Hopefully Neymar is okay looked like an ankle injury. Serbia made some iffy tackles all game long.

That is one of the most complete Brazil teams we've seen in recent tournaments, if they get on a roll and start flying they're going to be hard to beat.

A lot of depth, and not just relying on Neymar to create.
The midfield looked really good, and they are good at winning the ball back.

If they made the World Cup 64 teams and every 2 years, id like to see them alternate between a regular World Cup and a knockout March Madness bracket World Cup. That would be fun and faster as there's too much football already.
