They probably did but it’s an echo chamber.

She was speaking on behalf of the board with a prepared statement. It is only reasonable to think that the board saw the statement and agreed with it.

It was rhetorical to highlight how mindbogglingly stupid her (their) statements were.

This seems to be the best evidence that wholesale changes need to be made. The provincial bodies are entirely correct in saying they have no confidence that the current leadership is capable of overseeing change. I am not convinced that HC even sees a problem. Just brutal.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

On the contrary, she still seems incredibly tone deaf:

Wow; what a train wreck this has become. I can’t believe she said ‘volunteer my time’ as if it’s something that’s been taxing to her and something she’s been sacrificing. Also I didn’t hear any reports of mass outages at hockey rinks… good god.

You seem to be thinking that she didn't say what they wanted her to say... seems like an unsafe assumption to me. She clearly wasn't put in to lead a push for change as much as being put in to lead a push against change.

No, I understand completely that this is the case.

It just almost seems like HC is really holding back and makes you wonder if there aren’t more cases/allegations out there.

At this point its the only explanation. We saw what was on the floor of the room and they've all dug in to keep us from opening the closet door. Absolutely gross how these public entities get to have doors at all. Can someone explain the downside of full transparency of the finances of public organizations?

Letting these organizations run themselves in the shadows with no one to answer to is basically begging them to do some shady ####.

Westhead’s unflinching determination to get to the bottom of all this horror is courageous and admirable. I can’t imagine it’s been an easy story to pursue and that each time a new person comes forward it’s gotta be soul crushing.

Also give credit to TSN for supporting his reporting. Hockey Canada is big business for TSN, and they have not wavered in allowing Rick to expose all of this. As it should be, but sadly it isn't always.

Dollars to donuts her law firm pressured her into resigning.

Although I'm surprised they didn't monitor what she was doing in the first place.

Well, speaking as someone from a law firm, the fact she was on the board of that kind of organization would normally be viewed as a positive. But firms don’t really monitor what you do on outside charitable or other boards. And they wouldn’t expect her to put her foot in her mouth the way she did.

I would have assumed that the management of the firm knew that this was an exceptionally hot topic, that she would be voicing an opinion, and would have provided her some guidance prior to her shooting herself (and the firm) in the head. She was on the firm's Diversity Commitee.

Maybe the leadership at her law firm is just as messed up as HC?

Layers like an onion, I’m not sure we’ll ever hear the end of #### like this which is scary.
I’m just upset that hockey Canada is defending that idiot to the end here, guy should be a registered sex offender for letting this happen.

Shout out to Katie Strang at the Athletic, too. Very dedicated to this important cause.
