He's right, awesome achievement...with all that young talent the Avs will be contenders for years to come

No. At the end of the day, what a team does in May and June tells the story. The Flames are out right now because they couldn't beat the Ducks and Oilers. That matters. Especially now that playoffs are done divisional brackets.
Nobody is going to remember the Flames and their 45 win season in 2017. Sorry.

Lets be honest. By your argument, nobody's gonna remember the Oilers and their 46 win season in 2017 either. Do you even remember who the second round losers were from last year? Me neither.

Nope, BS. At the very least the part about not beating the Oilers. Those games were all early in the season, and you know it.
Our goaltending let us down in the playoffs. I thought those were all competitive games for the most part.
In either case, the narrative the Oilers troll was trying to spin about those two season series showing the Flames aren't contenders is crap.
They made the playoffs with sub part goaltending. They're a young team getting better. They're already contenders. They just need to find steady goaltending and they'll keep growing / improving.

The great Oilers won 7 playoff games...Talbot stole 4 of them
next year is a brand new season...there are only four teams that should be talking about 2017 results right now.
To just assume the Oilers are a better team next season is dumb
Caps have had a decade of "great seasons" and haven't been past the 2nd round, don't try and predict the future

Interesting to see almost the exact same comments by Oilers fans after the loss. Getting jobbed by the ref. Being the better team in the series but not the last game. Best player with the puck with a clear shot at the end of a do-or-die game who elects to pass.
Hockey is a cruel mistress. At least there's some schadenfreude tonight.

I agree, but what makes it interesting is that the Oilers have that generational player who's a tremendous blessing, but he and Draisitl create a really interesting problem where combined they're adding probably 20 mil + to a payroll that's already tight to the cap.
They're going to have to make the choice of stripping away probably 3 6 million dollar players, but the problem is that no team is going to take straight salary for guys like Eberle and Lucic and even RNH.
Its going to be really tough for them to improve the team because outside of JP there's not much in the prospect closet to get excited about.
I expect them to take a step back next year, not out of the playoffs, but back to a wild card spot.
Man, McDavid just was invisible in this series, and Nurse showed what everyone expected, that he's a dumber version of Denis Gauthier.

Fair enough.
I'm just happy that it's over for the Oilers. I was getting so sick of hearing about it. Thank - Gawd.
Ya, that was an odd scheduling glitch only getting the Oilers in October and November. And only 4 games too. When the 16/17 schedule came out that was the first thing that I noticed because I was wanting to go to a Flames game at Rogers Place.
Went up there for a Hitmen game instead. Turns out that Rogers Place is a dump.

I've said this before but if you give the Flames and Oilers the same quality of goaltending, I'd give the edge to the Flames. With the confidence of a .920 goaltender behind them, the Flames would absolutely flourish. Hiller, then Elliott and at times Johnson this year just rattled the collective confidence of the team at key times.
That said, if Anaheim is involved then all bets are off, they will fare worse than anybody. Just like with the Caps and Pens, there's no doubt Washington is a good team in their own right but there is a huge mental hurdle attached to the opponent. Hope that gets resolved in the next season or two because with playoffs going through the division for the first two rounds, they will continue to stand in Calgary's way of taking a needed step.
Edmonton has a couple dynamic pieces in their core but I don't see them having much ability to improve their roster to address holes in the coming years outside of current players progressing, as Leon and Connor are going to handcuff them greatly. Also McDavid appears to not be the same player in tournaments when the stakes are highest.

I happened past trolley 5 on 17th just as that winning goal shut up a bunch of orange clad morons in the middle of their Let's Go Oilers! chant. It was glorious. Me and some other guy let out a solid "woo" that will echoe through the ages as my fondest playoff 2017 moment thanks to the Flames sucking so bad.
Back to the woodwork oiler fans, and not a moment too soon

Not exactly. Every year that they've had that outstanding regular season team the Caps have been ousted in the 1st or 2nd round no matter who they play or had played.
So no, it's absolutely not simply a Pens curse with the Caps. It's a playoff curse.

Outside of the 7-1 game where the Ducks didn't show up, the Oil were largely outplayed. Pretty delusional takes from the media as well. Anaheim arguably should've had better fates in games 1 and 2, while the hockey heads were selling it like they were neck and neck.
What was it, something like 64-28 shots for the Ducks in the OT comeback? They earned and deserved the win, whether or not the refs helped them.
Riding inhuman endurance of a goaltender to a close series doesn't equate to being the deserving / "better" team.
Insane season from Talbot. Most tenders can't stay that sharp with that much of a workload. If he can't replicate it next season then a lot of warts will come to light next year.

Crisis averted, thankfully. Oilers out.
LoL @ Jeromer trying to pretend to be a Flames fan. First of all, it's Jarome. Take a page out of the Oilers book eh? They had an 11.5% chance at Mcdavid and that was all fluke, not strategy that they got him. But I guess since I disagree with you I can't think objectively and you truly feel sorry for me?
I would kill someone to have McDavid. But the Oilers didn't shrewdly acquire him; they pure dumb lucked into him.

I have a feeling that the Ducks are going to win the Cup and then we will have to hear Oilers fans beak off about how that should really be them.

I'll take that over the obnoxiousness of them actually winning the Cup. Every. Single. Year.
And if they want to play the woulda, coulda, shoulda game you just shoot back with, "You would have lost to Nashville."

Nothing increases the trade value of a 6 million dollar winger more than being a -6 with 2 points in 13 playoff games.
Good luck getting out from under that one.

Feels good waking up knowing that the Oilers won't win the cup.
