Would love for EE to come back, not sure the offer will be enough to keep him.

If they lose today, how soon until Gibbons is fired. Or do people think he will be back?

I think the Jays did just enough to maintain Gibbons. If they had lost to Baltimore or Texas he'd be gone. Pretty hard to fire a manager who made it to the semifinals in any sport.

Unless the manager in question was not the hire of the current GM/President. I think Gibbons probably comes back, but if Shapiro wants his own guy in there then Gibbons could be out.

So, uh, did I accidentally wade into the offseason thread? People are aware that the ALCS has not yet finished?

I know being in a 3-0 is bad, but baseball is weird and winning 4 in a row is not some crazy feat. The difference in this series so far is more timely hitting for Cleveland - the gap is really not that wide.

Day game alert as well - starts at 2:00

Well I am hoping for a miracle.

Sanchez on the bump for a Jays team that certainly can't look much worse than it does right now.

Win four in a row! Sounds simple enough.

One day at a time. Nothing going our way, but winning 1 baseball game is a coin flip.

If we win that coin flip, we get some momentum and another game less than 24 hours later. It's bleak - but it's not over.

Firing a manager who got you to back to back ALCS is about a dumb a move as I can think of. I get Gibby isn't popular but you could do so, so much worse than him. I see no reason to fire him and i'm not even his biggest fan.

Own guy or not, you have to recognize that Gibby has done a really nice job these last 2 seasons. This ball club has serious holes every year and he finds a way to help get them this far and patch the ship. Also does it with more than a few head cases in that locker room.

Sounds overly optimistic but you have Sanchez - Estrada - Happ as your potetnial 3 starters. If the Jays can even get a break or two a game, getting this to a game 7 is not impossible. They have the pitching to do it and when you've got the pitching you've got a shot IMO.

Baseball can change so fast. This season was all but over for many of us 3 weeks ago when the Jays rattled off two close wins against the Sox, then the big wild-card walk off. All games well pitched and all with playoff intensity.

To write them off now, after literally just seeing that happen would be pretty short-sighted.

The season could very well end tonight, but it does no good to waive the white flag.

Wish I lived in or was at least in Toronto today. People selling their tickets for next to nothing today. Bandwagon is emptying.

Too bad. I would kill to see a Blue Jays ALCS playoff game. I am sure it will be packed still.

Baseball can change pretty fast, but I just don't think anyone in the Jays is in the series mentally except Donaldson and Zeke. Maybe if the Indians were just badly outplaying the Jays you could hope comeback (like the Yankees were badly outplaying the Red Sox in 04), but it's pretty much all mental for the Jays right now. Just don't see them snapping out of it.

They should have tons of confidence, Cleveland isn't kicking their asses. They're a couple of decent at bats away from leading this series.

Time to start another 4 game win streak in the playoffs! I believe in the Jays.

Keep all this off-season, I hate JB, I hate Rogers, I hate Gibbons talk in the offseason thread whenever that is created.

I still get the impression that people hate Shapiro and Atkins but worship Anthopolis.

I look at that Cleveland team and I'm pretty jealous of what they've been able to build. That team has a lot of good home grown talent that's making an impact this year.

You can see in their pro scouting of pitchers that they can identify guys who still have good stuff that they can rehabilitate. Having Liriano in place of Dickey next year should allow the Jays to put out as good a 5 man rotation as anyone. If they can start drafting and getting some position players who can produce in the majors I think the Jays could still be a pretty good team.

AA for all his huffing and puffing about high ceiling prospects....didn't deliver them on time, and he tended to trade his best ones for expensive veterans to get better now. Which is showing to be the wrong way to go in Baseball.

Will be interesting to see if the Jays offense can find a way to generate pressure.

Or will the Pitchers continue to dominate the Jays lineup.

Either way, I would bet the Jays will have a vastly different lineup next year.

Meh, the WAR on managers has got be near zero except for 3 (Maddon, Bocce, Francona).

Well the Indians are the only team that hasn't lost 4 straight games this season, they've won 9 straight and are 15-5 in the last month.

Meanwhile the Jays' offense is going back to its September doldrums after a nice little 5 game blip.

It's over.

I really hope he's fired immediately. Might be the worst manager in ball.
Francona really taking him to school here. What a fantastic job of managing the bullpen yesterday, juggling things to give up nothing while keeping everyone available for today.
Gibbons only move is the 3 run shot.
