Confirming NHL linesman Don Henderson was in hospital for precautionary reasons. Home now. NHL expected to decide on Wideman today.
Didn't he finish the game no problem?
This whole thing screams union vs union.
Refs union calling foul while players union screams another.
Unions are a joke.

It's still right there for everyone to view on TSN's website, and it doesn't change a lot, from my perspective. Wideman's arms are still up, his stick is in his hands, and he still hits the official up high with them.
Really appreciate this other angle, it really shows the initial torso to torso contact.
I never seem to imbed these right, so apologies if it not worky:
The primary angle and video quality distorts the situation. At high enough definition and good enough framerate it's visible that Wideman sees the ref about .2 seconds before he hits him and reflexively tries to move.
On lower definition at lower framerates it looks like he skated right at the ref. He probably gets no suspension as the ref will vouch for his innocence in all likelihood.

Well if you read his lips, he leans up to the ref and says : "I'm sorry, I am sorry it's his !#@fault"
Looks like a missed punch.
So that's all Wideman needed to do to avoid this mess? The apology 5 minutes later wasn't good enough?
I don't think the Lucic thing was that big of a deal, but IMO it's just as serious as Wideman. Same as Muzzin, Y Weber and countless other examples over the years.

The Lucic thing is completely different. He's involved with other players when the linesman comes in, and a punch glances off of the Avs player and gets the linesman.
The Wideman thing is 1-on-1 with the Linesman. Nobody else is around.
Apples and oranges.

result tomorrow will be interesting...I keep coming back to the fact that the officials could have reviewed it AFTER the game and gave him a misconduct but chose not to
Pretty sure he gets 5-10 because of the optics but honestly he didn't mean to do that IMO
The social media reaction to a relatively short suspension will be absolutely EPIC there isn't enough salt in the ocean to compare
It's likely going to be 10. Harsh enough that the league "sends a message", but not over the top crazy because I think most will agree with the initial contact appears accidental and he was not head hunting anyone.
