Regarding the identity of Snoke - I've figured it out.
So, Snoke was there at the end of the Empire, correct? He says (in the book) that he saw the final confrontation between The Emperor, Vader, and Skywalker, correct? And he looks badly burned and scarred. Therefore, he had to have been on the Second Death Star. That means he wasn't some outworld force wielder, such as the Nightsisters, or some clone like Joruus, but was there. It also then likely isn't some fallen Jedi, as the Emperor would have had none of that around him. So who was he?
I used to be the biggest Star Wars nerd that ever was. That was before the prequels, when the "cannon" of the Thrawn Trilogy, and the Jedi Academy books were so thoroughly crapped upon by George himself. It wasn't until a few years ago, when the Clone Wars brought me back in. Nevertheless, I knew a tonne about what was happening in the background back in the day. That's how come I recognized Snoke.
Spoiler!
This guy.
The emperor, on the Second Death Star, was consulting with a pair of diviners, or dark side fortune tellers. They appear briefly in the ROTJ, and it's actually not easy to find a picture like this online, but there they are. I'm guessing the guy on the right is Snoke.
Of course, my original thought is that he wasn't super large, either. That he was in actual fact really small. Like the Wizard of Oz. Or another character voiced by Frank Oz. Yoda's evil twin, if you will. His good-for-nothing brother-in-law.

But where would dark side fortune tellers learn about lightsaber arts and the force? How would he have gained any power to the point of becoming Supreme Leader?
If you can tell the future, you can become the leader. By knowing the future, you can use that to your advantage. Besides, Kylo Ren wasn't even born at the time of the Second Death Star, and he's learned stuff. I'm sure that the Emperor's third hand man night have resources to grow himself since then.

That would work pretty well actually.
Snoke may not actually have that much force power himself. Instead, he observed the power that the emperor and Vader had closely. He then seeks out a force user to mold into a weapon. After observing the Emperor's manipulation of Vader so long, he was easily able to replicate the same process with Kylo Ren.

Ren's lightsabre training (or seemingly lack thereof) likely came at Jedi Academy and not from Snoke.
That guy's name is Sim Aloo and they were Palpatine's advisors, never mentioned as "dark-side fortune tellers". The original Kenner toy calls him "Imperial Dignitary" but the original costume designer said he dressed them like bishops because of his catholic background so maybe there is a religious/force aspect to them.

Could be right, but I thought I remembered hearing it, I think in one of the "Tales" books, but I can't remember where.

Its funny because I thought that would be a solid explanation as well. With those advisers they were all given EU backstories that don't matter anymore.
I always thought that they were more like Hitler's lackies the Goebels and Himmlers etc. But everyone has always thought that they were Dark Side Adepts or Prophets, which would go towards Snoke being powerful in the Force but not a Sith.
Whether he knows light saber techniques or other stuff, probably doesn't matter much, he doesn't even need to really have overt force powers like lightning etc. Let him be able to see into the future, and influence people.

I kind of like it better if he doesn't just imitate the powers that Palpatine had.
Will be more interesting if he is more of a background guy that pulls all the strings, and by being able to see the future he would be able to influence it.
Would make sense as to why he and Kylo were concerned about "the girl".
If he was a powerful force user that could see the future, he could then see this girl that becomes a powerful force user and tries to influence the plans of the New Order.
I eagerly await the internet to photoshop his head on TR-8R's body, or the other way around.

As the headline states, this article will ruin one of the major spoilers in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But what you didn’t realize is, the ending was already ruined back in 2010, two years before the movie was even announced
That’s when the below video was released for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2—Battle of Endor showing the murder of, you guessed it, Han Solo.
The film's global box office currently stands at $1.57 billion and $2 billion seems likely at this point, but if it wants to threaten Titanic's $2.186 billion for that second spot on the worldwide chart it's going to need some help. As for Avatar's $2.78 billion... it seems well out of reach at this point
Am I the only one who noticed some very obvious Nazi imagery with a certain scene?
GEneral Ginger, the guy who was sort of Kylo Ren's rival, had a very Hitler-esque, animated speech in front of a large army of storm troopers. They all raised one arm up in unison as he finished speaking. Kinda made me chuckle.

That was intentional, the idea of the First order came from a conversation between Abrams and Kasdan about what would have happened if several high ranking Nazi's had escaped to Argentina after WW2 and rebuilt and emerged 30 years later.

I think you might have missed the fact that the entire Empire in the original trilogy was not only based on Nazis but also had German military names (Stormtroopers/Stoßtruppen) and most of the costumes were based on recycled German uniform designs.
-edit
Of course we always fall into the trope of conflagrating Nazis with the Wermacht (and other factions) which in many cases were different and held different ideologies and moral standards.
