Curious as to why you included Glover with those players?

The riot will be more likely if a contract signing between Hayes and *any* team isn't announced by noon on Friday. Between furiously refreshing twitter and checking CP to see if sureloss has posted signing news, many people will be like "Why hasn't he signed yet?!", " He knows it's the 15th, right?" "Every GM who hasn't signed him yet is a lazy idiot!", " If I was Hayes I would fire my agent", "I blame Gary Bettman for this whole fiasco", and so on.

They'll need a new GM before they can take the next step IMO. Until then, they will keep spinning their wheels.

Great if he signs here, but I won't be too upset if/when he doesn't.
I don't view him as a blue-chip... as a matter of fact, if he was a left shooting C/LW then I'd have little to no interest in the guy.

Those prospects and young players don't exist in a vacuum and unfortunately for them there are plenty of teams with promising groups of young players.
So their mediocre core gets points for not being old. You admit they can't make the playoffs so not sure what you're getting at?

I'm not sure where else to put this...
I never realized until about a week ago that Corban Knight is right-handed. Was he ever tried on the RW last season with the Heat?

I think Hayes is pretty good and could surprise
I look at somebody like Blake Wheeler who is a decent comparison for style and skillset.
Both big bodies (Wheeler: 6'5" 205 and Hayes 6'3" 205), didn't dominate the NCAA, took some time to adjust, needed to work on their skating, but put up decent stats and improved in their time in college.
Coming out of college both were seen as not living up to their draft position and ended up being UFAs.
Wheeler: Games:127 Points: 96 PPG: 0.76
Hayes: Games: 142 Points: 132 PPG: 0.93
Personally I think points in the NCAA can be very deceiving due to the difference in quality of competition and the amount of goals his team scores.
I wouldn't top Hayes out as just a 3rd liner because he had a poor first two seasons in the NCAA. The one thing with Wheeler is that from the day he was drafted to now his skating improved greatly, maybe Hayes can improve his skating a little and see similar benefits.

Knight isn't playing the wing. He's built to play center in the pacific division. Plus, he's pretty good at faceoffs.

internal budget restraints, idiot GM who has traded picks for players on a team that has ZERO chance at playoffs let alone contending, Very unattractive city for players to sign.
Jets are gonna be an average at best team until the end of time like they have been in the past

Backlund
Stajan
Monahan
Bennett
Granlund
Reinhart
Arnold
Jankowski
Where does Knight slot in? You could pull Granlund and Reinhart from the list and throw them on the wing, but Knight will still be in tough to get anything more than 6-8 mins a night on the 4th line.

I like Knight but at some time we'll have to look at trading some of our centre depth, perhaps for a defenceman.

Aye, I can't make heads or tails of where we're going to fit all these kids in, especially if Jankowski turns out. Then you have to realize our LW depth is equally absurd. Think some of us are going to be very disappointed when one of our favorite prospects gets shipped out

Injuries you guys. There are always a tonne of injuries throughout the year, player struggles, etc. I doubt more than one or two kids play in the NHL this season.

It's true the Flames have much better depth at LW and C than in previous years, but unless a bunch of these guys reach max potential then the average talent still isn't high enough for a championship team. At some point they need to trade quantity for quality if possible, or if not a least lateral trades that shore up the other positions.

Don't take this as gospel or anything, it's one of those "I know a guy who knows a guy" situations.
But a little birdy told me that Hayes is either a Ranger or a Panther on Friday. The Flames and his agent had some talks but he does not want to play in the West.
