No, but the way he came back is. Are you watching, or just babbling?
No one wants to stifle creativity and offence, and no one wants oiler-type attention to a 200 foot game.

Stats after 2:

Gaudreau:
0pts
3 SOG
-2
12:46 TOI
13 shifts

Monahan:
0 pts
0 Faceoffs won
2 Faceoffs lost
2 SoG
5:42 TOI
8 shifts

Looks like Schiefle is taking ice time away from Monahan again. Schiefle with 9:08 of playing time

Hahaha exactly. Always hilarious what conclusions people seem to be willing to draw from a tournament on a different ice surface with different officiating standards and a different playing style in a miniscule sample size on a team that doesn't resemble a "team" (in so far as it's a patchwork of players who don't play together regularly) much less an NHL squad.

Aside from individual skills and playing style to some extent this tournament tells you nothing about anyone and the results, in terms of stats, are basically meaningless. The only way to get useful info here is to watch the guys play and see what you think of them, and even that may be misleading.

Like I said before, Johnny will have to get better without the puck.
His commitment is not the same in all zones.
AHL will be good for him.

Relax sweetheart. I was watching but now im working but it doesn't matter how he came back. Gaudreau needs developing regardless of if he was the best defensive player in the tournament.

First time it's occurred to me but it's surprising I think that Stamkos isn't here. He didn't get to go to the Olympics, this obviously isn't the same but he's represented Canada in the past. Maybe it's an injury thing, I haven't been paying much attention on that point.

He said after the Montreal series that his leg never did feel right after coming back. That's probably got something to do with it.

Huberdeau makes it 5-1 Canada.

And no Monahan wasn't on the ice.

Seth Jones ties it 4-4.

Gaudreau made a great play to keep the puck in the offensive zone for that goal

Gaudreau kept that one alive with good pressure on Daugavins. Definitely tipped in by Hayes.

Good play. That means Johnny is NHL ready. Until his next giveaway.

Man Thomas has kind of sealed his fate for next year in this tournament. He's been pretty bad.

Johnny won't get an assist, but his hard work to keep the puck in the zone directly led to the goal.

For those in London, Nordic Bar off Oxford Street is showing all IIHF games live. I am working remotely from the bar this afternoon watching Canada, drinking cider and talking hockey with Scandinavian barmaids. I recommend it.

I wonder if there is a stat or a way to find out how many penalties a player draws. It seems Gaudreau manages a couple a game.
