Eric Wright fails physical (or 49ers realize their mistake and fail him intentionally), trade is rescinded. Bucs immediately cut Wright making him a free agent.

Matt Ryan and the Falcons have agreed on 5 year extension worth just over $100 million. The cost of QBs is getting so absurd average starters like Andy Dalton and Josh Freeman are going to be asking for (and probably getting) around $15 million a season.

So.....ummm...yeah.....
Quote:
Niners starting cornerback Tarell Brown has voided a $2 million escalator in his contract after he chose not to participate in the team's voluntary offseason program.
Brown said he didn't know about that clause in the deal and only learned of it via Twitter after practice Thursday. Brown then fired agent Brian Overstreet for the mistake.
Brown had been due to earn $2.925 million in salary for the 2013 season. The 28-year-old player, entering his contract year, worked out on his own this offseason -- something he said he routinely has done.

Unbelievable.

Maybe he's just so much of a team guy he wanted to give the Niners the extra $2 million in cap space? Mensa members these guys are not.

Vince Young is probably going broke.

"Young once spent $6,000 on one meal for himself and pals at, wait for it, T.G.I. Friday's. "
Depending on how many pals were at the table but it's still not easy to blow $6K at Friday's.
I remembered watching him at that fabulous Longhorn bowl game thinking he's gonna make it big in the NFL. Sad.

Most of the NFL guys can hardly be considered literate especially when it comes to reading and interpreting legal documents. His agent wasn't doing his job that's for sure.

One of the 49ers' beat writers spoke to a former player agent, Joel Corry, to find out what can happen next.
Quote:
** Should Brown have known about such a significant detail in his contract?
“Some players aren’t going to read the fine print in the addendums of the contract,” Corry said. “And that’s why you have an agent.”
** Corry mentioned the possibility of Brown recouping some of his lost salary by suing Overstreet.
“It’s pure negligence on the agent’s part,” he said. “… I’m having trouble comprehending how you don’t know the ramifications of him skipping the workouts with an escalator.”

That's definitely all on the agent, that's his job. I hope he does get sued, his client shouldn't miss out on a huge chuck of his contract because his agent didn't tell him he needs to be at the workouts

Lot's of this is on the agent for sure but I would say well more than half of this is on the player. It's the athletes deal with the club. He should know the T's & C's.

Von Miller's suspension is not based on any positive test.

Then how can they suspend him if their is no proof?
Something weird about this one....as i read a few days ago the suspension is based on a test from 2011. Why would the NFL wait 2 years if they had this result in front of them?
Either way i hope Miller takes this whole ordeal to heart and uses it to springboard himself into superstar status both on and off the field. I am no Bronco fan, but this guy has every chance to become one of the best to ever play the position, and it would be a shame if he doesnt get there because of anything not related to on the field play.

They have ONE player over the age of 30 in camp this year. Ryan Pickett who is 33.

From what I read once you're in the program missing a test is the same as failing. How it's being reported my guess is he was put in the program in 2011, missed a test this year and is facing a suspension for it.
Full story in the Denver Post
Quote:
There are numerous ways for a player to fail the policy. Missing a test or counseling session is a violation. Repeatedly showing up late for tests and behavioral issues also are considered compliance violations of the NFL's intervention program.

Could be relative to a missed test or counseling session...that's what I was seeing last night.
I'm pretty disappointed the kid is even in the program, but I am very happy there is nothing surrounding PED's involved.
Hopefully this is just a miscommunication and he doesn't miss any games.

^^^^^Explains some things...but obviously something happened that put him in the program to begin with....hopefully just weed or something minor.
At any rate, even though i am not a Denver fan, i LOVE those DE/LB guys that can flat out dominate like i think he can. Best part of football IMO.

Ah, ####. That's a big loss.

About worst possible sight for #Ravens: Dennis Pitta getting carted off field with a towel over his head. He collided w/safety Ihedigbo

Harbaugh said Pitta has dislocated hip. Will be out foreseeable future. Already ruled out of Denver opener.

#Ravens had free agent Visanthe Shiancoe in for a visit yesterday. Pitta's injury could accelerate the process of signing here.

Dislocated hip sounds ridiculously painful. Also Jeramy Maclin has torn his ACL. Training camp is just about survival.
