Yeah, I actually prefer the terrible processed cheese on my burgers over any of the fancier cheddars et al. It reminds me of the basic grilled bbq's of summer everyone makes in their backyard, which imo is the best burger you can get.

Start of ski season, I wanted to give a shout out to:

Our Place in Kimberley BC.

Local beef, and buns from the bakery across the street.

Very good messy burger.

Apparently they're doing a media preview today, so I'd think that means they should be opening some time this week...

Sadly, probably not too far from the truth.

I'm really looking forward to a Thickburger El Diablo. I haven't been to Carl's Jr in Canada; what are the prices like?

More expensive than places like McDonalds/Burger King, but cheaper than Earls.

The food quality is definitely better than the cheaper fast food places though. You get quite substantial burger at Carl's Jr.

Carl's Jr was really busy today, so I went to Burger 320 instead. So damn good.

Could they have found somebody to write the article who had heard of Carls Jr prior to a week ago; and maybe somebody who focused on the food instead of a random ad. (And am I the only one who hasn't seen that ad on TV yet?)

I've had Carl's Jr. in Maui and at the Cabo and Vegas airports. I really don't see what the fuss is about. Not really that much different than any other fast food burger joint to me. If I had to pick one in the States I'd want here, it would be In N Out Burger, but even than I find that place to be more folklore than substance.

The fuss is it's American and it's new. No one said they were breaking any new ground...it's just a change from the same ole same ole.

There's only two American chains that opened here in the past 5 years or so that really excited me. Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Chick-Fil-A. Five Guys in my mind is the fast food gold standard. Hard to beat in my opinion. Chick-Fil-A is amazing in the US (politics aside). The one in the Calgary airport is decent, but nowhere near the amount of choices and to the level of the US chain, but this is a Burger thread, so I digress.

You forgot about Smash Burger, which IMO is better than Five Guys, and Chick-Fil-A is awful.
