Closest I have ever come to an ace is on the second hole at spirit creek in red deer.
Had the ball stop on a spot where the hole was cut at one point in time. Might have be the last time it hit a green on a par 3.

4th Round today.
Played Speargrass. Beautiful morning teed off at 915 and didn't have a single wait on any holes. I have played 4 different tracks so far this year in and around town and must say the greens at Speargrass were the best thus far. Rolling really nicely for this time of year.

Speargrass was in the best shape of anywhere I played last year.

Broke 90 for the first time this year and shot a 89. Would have been lower but I put a tee shot in the water on hole 13 and 14.

Are you still playing out at Nanton? I recall you saying that a few times. Is it in good shape? Have they moved the tees back on that hole on the back 9 to play as a regular Par 4 yet?
I like to head down there a few times a year so just curious. Thanks!

I'm a member. The course is okay but I would wait a month to allow the grass on the faiways to grow and the same for the greens. It's like most courses at this time of the year.
The tees on hole #12 were moved back to normal par 4
New foot/cart bridges on holes #10 and #18

I loved when Kananaskis would do their hole in one challenge on the par 3 fourth hole at Mt Kidd. I hit an awesome tee shot one round and it was on the perfect line. I thought I had a serious chance at making a hole in one or at the very least being a few feet from the hole. I ended up not even hitting the green. That elevated tee box was a killer and always messed with my distance control.

So I currently play some about 6-7 year old golf clubs that I would call "garbage" haha.
I don't even know where to start on how to shop around for new stuff. Anyone have any idea on where to start?
Thanks.

I'd look for a demo day somewhere outside. That's your best place to start. Preferably at a course that has a bunch of different manufacturers so you can hit everything.
River's Edge had theirs last week so that won't work.

What do you currently have, and what are you looking to spend?
If you can't wait or find a demo day go to golf town and hit a few different sets into the screen.

I hadn't played since October, as the Vancouver weather was terrible for golf. A few weeks ago I went out on the range, and I snapped my 7 iron, right at the hosel. The head flew further than the ball. I thought it was weird, but had the pro shop send it back for repairs. Then, a week later, I was at the range again. This time I snapped my 6 iron, the same way my 7 iron broke. When we looked at the shaft, the inside was all rusted. They likely were wet when they went into storage, and rusted out. I am guessing the rest of the irons aren't far behind, and will break soon.
So I am in the market for a new set of irons. As I'm a member at a club, they have a bunch of demo sets I can try out. I started by hitting the 7 iron on each of them. I immediately ruled out the Ping i200 set. It felt awful. I like two different sets of Callaways and one Titleist. After playing a couple rounds with each I really like the Titleist AP2 irons. Unfortunately they are the most expensive, but I hit them the best, they feel great, and I shot a couple good rounds on different days. I'll be getting the 4-GW set, with stiff, steel shafts. Since the pro shop doesn't have much flexibility in the price, I'm hoping they'd like to throw in a lesson or two, along with the fitting.
Normally I'd wait until the end of the season, or for a sale, but since I don't have any clubs, I need to purchase something now if I want to play golf. I'm really excited about the new irons. I think they'll help my game. They are about $500 more than I thought I'd spend, but $500 over 10 years isn't much.

I've got a set of Calloway "warbirds" Drive - putter. Essentially a beginners club. Would hope to spend less than $800 on irons.
I shoot about 85 - 90 regularly but can't seem to improve much. The grips are starting to go so I figure I should replace everything.
