I congratulated her and didn't think too hard about it (we were first time parents after all, and between work and new baby I am not ashamed to say that I was not very attentive to my wife's feelings).
Day of the play date, only two days later, and my wife is a bit stressed. Originally they had spoken about a playdate at a local toddler cafe, but the other mom had suddenly insisted on playdate at our house. I ask her about it more, and come to find it was other mom that approached her and insisted on a near term playdate, after the introductions during which my wife divulged that she was a social worker. I started to notice the red flags and suggested that she cancel the play date and ask to reschedule. But my wife didn't want to turn down what could be her first new mom friend! So I relented and left for work.
4 hours later I get a call. The lady had brought her newborn daughter to our house and within 15 minutes made an excuse and straight up left. My poor, new mom wife with a 2 month old was now also babysitting someone's 3 month old. Someone she had only met once and barely knew.
Needless to say my wife became an intense scrutineer when it came to mom friends from that point on. COVID also stopped that. Damn lady had the nerve to request a play date 2 days later. My wife blocked her phone number. I sympathize as I understand that her husband had been out of town a lot, but that type of behavior is off the wall crazy. She's really, really fortunate my wife did not get her work colleagues involved.

Man, I would never dump my kids with someone I didn't know.
But if I was planning to, I'd pick someone who wasn't a social worker and could reasonably get them taken away.
Makes you wonder if that's someone who subconsciously knows they aren't a fit parent and is trying to self-sabotage...

For sure, obviously there would need to be other issues as well. Still, that's someone who would be uniquely placed to open an investigation, doesn't seem like a good choice to pull a child care scam on to me.

Not to defend that person’s actions because frankly what they did was ridiculous, but with that being said I’m not sure what kind of investigation they could legitimately open up based on a single incident where the child wasn’t put in any danger and the other party could have simply said no I can’t watch your kid.

Short of the child showing up emaciated or with scars all over them, literally nothing.

####ing 60 something year old individual that sounds like they've been hand held for every stage of their entire life.
I've summarized what needs to be done and I've given step by step instructions.
I've given website address for individual to follow an article and see the instructions from the agency.
I've given contact information of an agency for the individual to call to receive step by step instructions.
All of that hand holding and you still keep claiming you have no idea what to do and you keep saying you thought it was sorted out.
#### off. You're not even trying.

I wouldn’t go that far, but based on what has been said so far I don’t really know what they would investigate in this situation. Not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not.

I like my Fitbit but it sometimes glitches. I have my week set up to start on Monday. My sleep scores this week are 78, 86 and 92. The app averages it out at 80, which is incorrect. I know the reason; one day I woke up and it had recorded a score but I went back to sleep for 90 more minutes. It logged the extra minutes and gave me a higher score but didn’t include that score in the average.

Pepsi said it best, no one's kid is getting taken away because someone got hoodwinked into babysitting for a day.

That's where you pretend you lost the baby or sold it to the carnival.

I find the phone videos can’t give you any feel for the scale of a show and how the crowd is responding. They sure don’t draw me in. The produced videos are what sucks me down the rabbit hole for hours because of the multiple angles, helicopter/drone footage, perspective from the band, etc.
For example, stumbled upon the INXS concert from Wembley ‘91 the other day. I’d passed it over a few times since it’s so old I figured it would suck, but was bored so hit play. Turns out it’s remastered and in decent quality. Opens from behind the drummer, looking out over 75-80k… yeah, pretty cool. They start with a middling song (Guns in The Sky), not my favourite but the crowds pumped, I’ll keep going. Second song is New Sensation, which I figured was a somewhat upbeat song…. Crowd goes insane! Mass of humanity Screaming, jumping, fist pumping, etc. with the cameras picking it all up. Gave the song a whole new energy, and you can tell the band is feeding off it.
Completely different experience if it’s a single perspective from a phone. Those may take the individual back to what they felt when they were at the show, but is kinda like showing your vacation pictures… yeah looks like you had fun, but why should I get excited about you having fun?

Two problems with fan phone videos.
a) newer phones are incredible but they are almost too good for concerts, as they separate and cancel out audio around the phone. Normally that's a great feature for most video subjects, but for a concert it mutes most of the crowd and focuses on the music, making the atmosphere sound dead and boring.
b) fans suck at filming in a way that captures the crowd and total atmosphere of the show. They tend to super zoom onto the singer and follow them wherever they move, giving zero perspective of there being thousands of fans
in an arena.
Combine those two factors and you could basically film an artist on stage for sound check with no fans and it would look and sound similar.

I film regularly. I love them. It's my favourite keepsake from a concert. I enjoy watching them while I work out. I'm tall, so I just keep my phone at my chest (kinda under my neck/chin) and record, so it takes away nothing from my experience being present at the show.
