No probably about it Sharks run away from that deal as fast as they can.

Well, they were already rebuilding before they inexplicably offered Hertl that contract, so who knows what they're thinking.

Of course they do, less term. For rebuilding teams, that’s all that matters.

I doubt anyone is touching Hertl’s contract, too much term especially.

They're one of the few teams who could take on Lindholm's full salary right now too.

The GM is probably desperate to keep his job

Could be but he is still young, enough and productive enough that they should be able to do much better than add older, worse players with longer term left on the Hubredeau deal.

Don't think anyone is trading value for Hertl. 8.1 million and 29. .67 ppg over his career

I don't understand all the Johnson talk. The fact that he was demoted doesn't really mean anything. Coronato was just demoted as well, I don't expect him to be asking for a trade either.
As for trading Johnson for Lindholm, why would Columbus take that risk? Are they a contender with Lindholm in the lineup? I don't think they are. If they really like Lindholm they could try to get him as a free agent, like they did with Gaudreau.

Not only do the Sharks say no but so do both those players. Hertl has a full NMC and Couture can pick 3 teams he can be traded to, I guarantee Calgary is not one of them. Players love SJ, seeing how we are not a contender there is zero chance they would want to move.

They're in very different situations in their careers.
Coronato has played 11 NHL games and is in his first pro season. Johnson has played almost 100 NHL games and has never been sent to the AHL before.
Also, when a player switches agents midseason, it's often a sign he's not happy in his current situation and a trade request isn't uncommon.

There is a lot of pressure in Columbus to make the playoffs and a lot of pressure on Jarmo Kekalainen. Also, trying to hope on a player you feel is a guy you want to reach free agency is a really foolish plan because those players rarely make it. If Lindholm is traded I would say it is almost a certainty whomever lands him will get him extended.

The only thing I have heard is this organization from top to bottom still believes they can turn this around. So it is very quiet.

they might as well for now...nobody has cap for a big trade and you don't want to look desperate. Keep bringing new guys in and see what happens

Sure, I would swap Lindy for a couple young talents with high ceilings who have the bulk of their early development behind them.
Seems like exactly the sort of move Edwards would give them the go head to do since it's more "now" than outright draft pick would be.
The most impatient move is the name of the game under this ownership.
Fully expect a few more sharangovich-esque trades but for slightly more talented pieces.
