Leafs do not have many appealing assets outside of Easton Cowan.

They want him as their 2nd line C. They want to move Tavares to the wing.

I don't buy that the leafs are interested in Kadri. If the rumor is out there, it's more likely that it's a Treliving ploy to try and reduce the cost of someone else.

Boy wouldn’t that be something, Tavares the exceptional can’t miss 2009 #1 overall draft pick centre phenom, replaced at centre and moved to wing by #7 overall pick in the same year, former leaf too. Would kind of be hilarious, though I really don’t want to move Kadri at this point in the rebuild

Why would Leafs fans think for a second the Flames would gift them anything after their now GM butchered this franchise and then quit? Treliving tax should be real. He traded away a 1st to dump a beloved player as part of a summer where he lost our 2 best players and handed out a combined $183M and 23 years of contracts to 2 guys who were 30 when they started and the other was 32 to only have the team fully implode. Only Bowman would have a higher price tag on flames assets than Treliving.

Leaf fans are perhaps the most idiotic fan base on the planet, that's why.

Habs fans give them a run for their money when it comes to ignorance of the league outside of their own city.

I don’t think it’s a solid rumour. I’d do it for sure. Rasmus + Cole Schwindt for McGroarty + 2 2nds.

Sure but more than a few of us here would like to believe that contract is an AI hallucination.

If the contract had been signed in 2024, I'd think it was an AI hallucination.
Alas, sometimes people have money burning a hole in their pockets and have to spend it on something. It's no coincidence that Huberdeau got exactly the same offer Gaudreau turned down.
Just like it's no coincidence that immediately after the Flames traded a 1st and two 2nds for Dougie Hamilton, the Oilers (who reportedly were in on the bidding for Hamilton) traded a 1st and a 2nd for, God help us, Griffin Reinhart.
It's sad to have to compare the Flames and Oilers that way, but it shows no one is immune to that kind of impulse buying.

The Flames might acquire his rights in a trade, but could they sign him?
