Good news! It is now being reported that Boston is likely to land OEL! I am off ritual seppuku watch! Hooray!

I see it as something between the post you’re quoting and “major changes” every off season but one. IMO the Flames have only had one season of major changes with the Carolina trade, signing Ryan and Neal and hiring a new coach.

Reported by who?
Can we include the sources in the coming days as new rumours or reports come out? It makes it easier to sort through the BS ones.

Now that I am finally comfortable and happy with the thought this deal is unlikely to happen, I imagine the trade will go through tomorrow and be a gross over-payment by the Canucks.

Any deal where you are bringing in a top 6 forward and a top 4 dman is a big one.
And you are moving the goal posts from strongly suggesting he always brings back the same team, to now simply not likely the changes he has made. Different things.

He also signed Neal that year. A horrific signing, but intended to be a top 6 player and score 20 or more.

How many of those pages actually discussed the trades though and how soon did the conversations turn into threads about Bennett and or Jankowski? Stats alone dont tell the whole story.

Well, for sure the Sven one didn’t for obvious reasons.

If the Bruins are in the mix, and the Yotes want a young defensive prospect back, that means Jack Ahcan. He is literally the Bruins only good defensive prospect. Ultimate win now trade if they do that. But the Bruins don't have a first this year, so maybe a roster player involved as well.
Canucks must have lowballed. I think that they have the better potential offer.

I mean, good. We have the position to take a shot like that. If we miss, no harm no foul. OEL wants to play in Vancouver, and has control over where he goes. If Boston is willing to over-pay, then good on them. Canucks dodge a bullet. Boston doesn't ante up? Coyotes take the Canucks low-ball offer because again: He has to go. The Coyotes cannot afford him.

Why wouldn’t the Bruins just sign Krug and not give up assets? He’s better and should come in at a batter contract.

Krug's size. Right now, they do their best during 5v5 to shelter Krug while Chara gets the hard match ups. Chara clearly can't keep doing that going forward. OEL steps in and takes over that role. This was a topic on one of the podcasts I was listening to - either 31 Thoughts or...I can't remember. They kinda blend together these days for me.

....oh boy. Wearing your tinfoil cap?
I was listening to the 31 thoughts podcast today, and Friedman raised his voice an octave just for a single second while talking about the Flames. I think he’s trying to tip us off. Something big is going down. Mark my words!

I hope it’s true cause we need to make some bold moves and this is the perfect environment for league wide activity.

Stamkos is coming to Calgary!
Probably not, but that's my guess.
