Sounds like they messed up their end of things. Oh, I see Jason14's post, yup, person probably doing the initial cancellation forgot to do that.
What's also interesting is what subscriptions followed the card and what didn't.

Enmax, insurance, cell phone all freaking out right now. Gotta give them a call again, pay the balance with a different card and then waiting for the new card to update auto payment.

I just noticed streaming companies, monthly donations, fraudulent charges etc. basically didn't notice a thing. I wonder if I'll be doing the same as the above soon if they reset the tokenization properly.

My job is fine, but I applied for a role I'd be super happy in for more pay and even had an in for it so was feeling confident, just found out I didn't get it.

It's so weird in my life where I find whenever I really want something and work hard for it, I don't get it. And when I don't really give a bleep and put in minimal effort, it works out for me (job interviews, women, etc). I'm a pretty chill person, almost to a fault, so I've been trying to be more driven lately. But I'd be lying if I said I hadn't noticed the theme of when things usually work out for me ha-ha...

The Borrowell app is great for this, but keep in mind that financial institutions are only updating your credit file once a month for active accounts (usually EOM) so the real changes you're going to see intramonth are new hard credit checks, account closures, and otherwise minor fluctuations in the credit score. Over the last fourteen days, my score dropped one point for no discernible reason, then went up by three for -- again -- no reason.

Keeping an eye on the hard checks and any new accounts is important -- though, again, new accounts report EOM.

Yeah....I have to get there myself. At the moment I am eminently conscious of looking for chloroform and duct-tape.

"Do we though....? Also...that is a very nice hacksaw..."

In my case, the pending charges I was able to quickly fight and get rid of those without much hassle than pointing them out. But the ones that posted after 2-4 days of pending, those have to go through a long drawn out process. I agree that monitoring a credit report isn't very useful for something like that. Useful maybe if someone created large loan accounts or applied for a credit card with your info or something, but not for individual transactions.

The first charge posted because I didn't have the card on hand and hadn't activated yet, so it posted before I could see it in the portal. The second I'm successful in getting addressed because it's still sitting in pending, but the tokenization thing means I have to go forward down a card again. I have 4 CC and I monitor them weekly to bi-weekly. Maybe I'm better off down a credit card anyways...

Make sure to tell them you need a new card and explain it needs a new tokenization / reset in their system
Interesting, I just recently got a new card to replace an expiring one and when I went to update on Amazon it was already updated -- thought I was going crazy for a second.

In hindsight this was a foolish of me, but I decided out of principle that I wasn't going to pay. They sent it to collections and I told them to get bent. Now I have 5 derogatory remarks on my credit score that won't come off still for a couple of more years and it has impacted my life. We were rejected from moving into a really nice co-op because of it, which certainly wasn't worth standing my ground on for $1,800. I would have saved way more than that on rent and would have a much nicer place to live in. I should have just paid it knowing what I know now. My credit rating was perfect before that.

#### Amex. You absolutely should not have been liable unless it was your own doing that caused the charges (lent the card to a friend).

But yeah, anything going to collections, you always end up paying or getting screwed up credit. The good thing is once it’s with a collection agency, they’ll often negotiate a much lower amount. They bought it for pennies on the dollar so even if they collect half it’s better than nothing.

I've often found the same thing in life. When I push for something, it doesn't work out. When I'm chilled and happy and crusing, opportunities seem to come.

Makes me believe that we don't really know what's best for us. Just let the universe/God/whatever you believe in show you the way. But being human, that seems like too passive a way to live life. I want to forge my own path.

I was always under the impression that a comprehensive claim wouldn't impact insurance premiums going forward... but apparently in Alberta that isn't the case for some reason? What possible justification could there be for that?

Some random contractor launched a rock through the rear window of a rental I had; that can't possibly increase my insurance, can it? That would be insane.

So did the city just decide to never pave the Mckenzie Towne traffic circle again? It's like driving on a war zone road.

Lol! I've noticed the same thing. I think the City has been trying to just isolate Mckenzie Towne and pretend it doesnt exist.

It seems like a lot of roadworks are getting a back-seat lately. This is just an anecdotal observation, but 90% of the roadworks I'm seeing is installing pedestrian crossing lights while the actual roads look like Berlin circa 1945.

I love my kids, and wouldn’t change a thing if I could turn back the clock, my gear grinder is how much their activities eat I to summer. Baseball at the start, hockey during summer and and now hockey full time for the season. Yikes.
Funny it actually bothers my wife more than me, but unhappy wife…

100%, I remember about 10-15 years ago I was annoyed with the constant paving delays all summer long. But the roads were generally in good to great condition.

The last few years I feel like more roads are in disrepair than roads in good condition.

WRGMG is some schools have kids going back this Thursday, Aug 31st, instead of the following week. Not only is this going into the sacred Sept long weekend, but it’s earlier than normal, and yet we all know that many kids won’t be there (family vacations) plus all the typically wasted days towards end of the school year. Why does the school board do this to parents and kids?

It is pretty stupid. Start on Thursday, half day Friday and holiday Monday. They should have just started on Tuesday. It is moronic.

Is there anything more to this story though? 100% legit fraud with you being diligent in every aspect of notification to the credit card, password, PIN etc is important. Usually fraud is covered and this isn't a very large amount at all.

If you covered your basis 100% and this still occurred, someone like a co-op should be reasonable to understand that this is more of an isolated dispute as opposed to a habit of not paying outstanding debts.

People's credit histories can take a significant hit over a few minor situations but it's also a lender, credit analyst or someone who is viewing a credit report's responsibility to understand things as well. Commercial disputes happen all the time and sometimes it's a perfectly reasonable explanation for the black mark on a score. Sorry this has happened to you over such a small amount. That co-op missed out because they can't understand something like this.

To CP members as a whole, take credit and debit card security very seriously. Don't let your friends or your family know your PIN, don't share your card with wife, girlfriend, husband, father etc. Way too many people are way too laxed and when they get questioned by the banks and have to fill out forms, they will a lot of the time out themselves with negligence without knowing.

People are way too easy on security and when questioned

I reported a street light on my block out via the 311 app.

On January 23rd.

It's still out.

Did you use the streetlight outage reporting tool? https://streetlightoutage.calgary.ca/SLO/index.html

Does it show up on there as reported? I reported one in July and it said it could take 3 weeks to get fixed, and it took about 3 weeks to get fixed.
