Here is how Barb should have answered the (paraphrased) questions:
 1) Were you interested in entering the race before you were approached?

I have always been passionate about Calgary and the important issues that face Calgarians and was willing to do whatever it took to make things better. The mayor's chair seemed like a distant (but exciting) possibility and so when I was approached by people who had a coherent strategy to make it happen, I jumped at it!

 2) Does this mean you are a marionnette?

Absolutely not. I am more than capable of thinking for myself and have passionately articulated my vision for this city throughout the campaign.

 3) Mistake with campaign manager...reflective of poor political skills?

Mistakes have been made. Unfortunately, things didn't quite work out as hoped but I am truly thankful for the effort that my campaign manager made but it just wasn't the right fit because the committment to running this campaign was just too overwhelming. However, I was able to identify a problem that existed and made the appropriate adjustment to get back on track. I believe that a good Mayor is one who doesn't stubbornly stick to one strategy and will do whatever needs to be done to right the ship.

I don't know how anyone is lambasting Barb for her ArtsVote outburst. It's all hearsay at this moment. Until I see a legitimate article or newscast about it, it's a non issue. I'm sure something did happen, but all we've heard is from the ArtsVote people. Kind of difficult to take away an opinion from what happened with a few twitter descriptions.

I'm pretty sure I just read that as "all we've heard it from is the eyewitnesses."

Also, DJ Kelly isn't exactly in the business of spreading lies. But good try on the defense there bud.

Here is how Barb should have answered the (paraphrased) questions:
 1) Were you interested in entering the race before you were approached?

Nah, but I thought that the city needed more subsidized artwork, crappy electronic music, and Grafitti mannnn you can never get to much grafitti. Because in a time of economic problems, budget problems, disintigrating infrastructure, what we really need is a bunch of naked guys playing a panflute on the mall

 2) Does this mean you are a marionnette?

What the hell are you talking about? can someone bring in a real journalist and not some bitter jerk who makes bad wardrobe choices, has a skeezy looking combover and smells like he had a straight shot of bourbon. Hey look a naked guy with a panflute, you should go check it out.

 3) Mistake with campaign manager...reflective of poor political skills?

Well originally I wanted the greased up deaf guy, but he wasn't available. It was a poor hire on my part, but it isn't reflective of poor political skills, its relective that I trusted people too much, which is a Calgary Choice. By the way . . . that tie . . . pathetic is it reflective of your $1.95 tie budget or poor dressing skills.

And this people is why I will never win an election.

I don't think you'll be seeing any articles.

But the reality is, with social media, these voices now have the power to be heard, hearsay or not.

McCourt's schtick is to play the curmudgeon who will try to get people to flinch and say something stupid. She should have known that in advance and played a prevent type defence against making a mistake in that environment because he would exploit it.

I never got a chance to comment before, but that hour of TV that Nenshi has on Saturday at 4pm is brilliant! I have no idea how that came about, but its a huge coup to score that time and great to see that they are opening this to twitter/phones/email for questions.

The surprise is Nenshi's hidden platform agenda that includes re-starting Stampede Wrestling, putting an indoor area in the middle of Devonian Gardens (which doubles as a planetarium at night, $5 a ticket), and the inaugural event pits Bruce Hart and Naheed Nenshi vs. Karachi Vice is a best two-out-of-three falls match.
