Bit of a bump here, I suppose, but I just downloaded this game last night and started it up while my little guy napped today. I could have done laundry or yard work but instead chose to nerd out. And it was the best choice I've made in recent days.

I rolled a human Jedi Knight. The story and choices are awesome. I'm a cocky jerkoff, but I make the light choices.... Except when it comes to nailing hot Twi'lek chicks in power. At least I admitted it...

This game is fantastic. I'm going to subscribe soon to take advantage of the other classes and races. Awesome.

I've been playing it since it came out a couple of years back.

so far I've played as a Sith Warrior, Sith Inquisitor, Bounty Hunter and Imperial Intelligence on the Empire side. I've been a smuggler and Trooper on the Republic side.

In terms of story lines and rankings so far

Imperial Intelligence - You feel like a secret agent as you take down spy rings, infiltrate the republic and go after a centuries old secret society. Your character if you go dark side like me is a nasty piece of work

Sith Warrior - An exceptional story of serving the Empire and Betrayal. There's something cool about swinging a light saber for the forces of evil. The story is excellent, the voice acting is solid

Smuggler - Not so much that the story line is all that great, man steals your ship, you get it back and become a privateer for the republic. But the absolute funniest character in the story with some incredible one lines.

Sith Inquisitor - I was torn on this one, but I just loved the character and he represents more of a Sith then the Warrior in a lot of ways with his climb for power fueled by outright hatred. The first and last chapters are good, the middle story is almost like ghost busters.

Bounty Hunter - I liked this story of one man making his way in the universe by pretty much killing everyone else. This is the only character that came out neutral for me. There's something cool about wearing the armor and being a high tech killing machine.

Trooper - A little boring story wise as you go about busting one super weapon after another. The opening chapter is actually really cool. Very similar in terms of the Trooper as far as how you play the character. There's also something very cool about looking like a clone trooper from the prequel series while blasting imperials.

In terms of the good and bad in the game.

The good

The story lines are great as are the grind missions. The look and feel of the game is very good, but goes up a lot when you get to some of the expansion worlds like Makeb which are gorgeous. Companions come in really handy though when you get a healer it tips the balance in your favor. Flashpoints and operations, I don't do a lot of them but they are a lot of fun to get 4 or 8 friends together and fight against impossible odds. Continual content adds. They've added three new worlds, at least two new areas, a ton of missions like Bounty Hunter Quests, Gree conflict etc. There's just a ton of content.

The bad - PVP arenas aren't great mostly for balancing reasons and the friend finder isn't stunning and sometimes takes to long. You'll notice that population drops in later worlds from several hundred on the initial worlds to a low of 20 to 40 at a instance on worlds like Voss and Corellia. The space missions, are on a rail and repetative, this should be the strongest part of the game in my opinion because it is star wars. On the plus side the space conflict pack is coming soon, this is a 12 v 12 pvp dogfighting arena

Some advice

As soon as you get a companion start crafting. Personally I craft for money with things like scavenging and treasure hunting and diplomacy. But if your a jedi, look at picking up the crafting skill that lets you create mods and enhancements they come in handy.

In terms of armor there are several classes

White - Pretty crappy its pretty much a coat to put on over your underwear.
Green - the average run of the mill armor, not great not bad, but you'll find yourself taking a beating in that armor later on.
Blue - a step up from the green and if your decently armored in blue then you'll do ok
Red - Adaptable armor. Probably the best armor in the game because you can modify the armor with armor, mods and enhancements. You can usually find this in drops, or buy it with commendations or buy it using cartel coins. I like red because I can find a look that I like and then keep modifying the armor up throughout the whole game. If you have red armor with the proper mods you literally become a beats in terms of being tough to kill

Purple - Is legendary armor, some is modible some are not. The modible stuff has bonuses attached and is usually even more powerful then reds. But they are tougher to find. They'll drop occasionally or you can find them in flashpoints and operations or heroic missions. or you can buy them on the GTN which can be expensive.

Anyways, theres a huge galaxy to explore, look for anything that glows or sparkles or pulses as it might be a holocron or lore objects that give you leveling bonuses or stats bonuses.

Have fun and enjoy ramming your lightsabres through peoples torsos.

Oh and without giving anything away. The jedi knight story is huge in terms of the lore of the game.

I think I figured that out before I started playing, really. I was looking at the classes and companions to figure out who I wanted as a companion and what spec I was going to use. I also read Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan. I spoiled everything myself.

Its an ok spoiler to read that book prior to playing because it gives you some key background.

But remember, you are the chosen one.

Now fall to the darkside.

I was enjoying the Jedi Knight storyline, and I was definitely enjoying having Kira follow me around with her quips, but some of the locations they sent you felt pretty forced and pulled you away from the main story, which was odd. I haven't played in a while because I found the planet I was on boring. Maybe I should pick it up again soon.

There are some planets that can grind a bit. Voss always kind of bores me because its more of a mystics journey story for all the characters.

For the most of the part I like most of the classic star wars planets and I find new and interesting things all the time.

By the way Trailer, if your on Tatooine and you see a skull in the desert, you should pick it up, it gives you massive rewards

New video released today concerning the galactic star fighter addon. Looks cool and not a rail shooter like the currect space portion of the game

So I made a Jedi Guardian and I'm levelling up as a tank. Is this a good idea or should I have been a Sentinel for damage? I wanted to be a tank while Kira kicked butt and laid out some DPS.

When I was playing I leveled up my Sith Juggernaut as a tank spec with no problems whatsoever. It actually came in handy quite often as I was able to solo all 2-man quests and even some 4-man quests with my healer companion (think his name was Quinn).

This is my character's exact setup and it's fine. Guardian is awesome and it helps that you can hop into any tougher situations.

Yeah, I went with a Sith Warrior juggernaut, there was just something cool about striding onto the battle and messing people up and in flashpoints drawing everyone in to attack you.

Most of my characters I've gone with the stealthier tank option with the stealth shield. I just like sneaking up on people and stabbing them in the face from the shadows.

I'm at just over 4k affection with Kira Carsen, the second Knight companion, and we haven't had a single dialog at all. I had T7 talk to me twice and he is only at ~900 affection. Am I doing something wrong? I've even resisted flirting with everything female I talk to. I don't get it.

It'll happen eventually. It's just based on the affection level. If you want to speed it up, craft companion gifts and give them to her.

I've been getting her companion gifts non stop. I've sent my two droids out collecting various companion gifts and giving her the compatible ones that allot her the most affection gain. Though I'm only part way though Taris, my first planet after acquiring her. Perhaps that has something to do with it?

That tends to have a lot to do this, some of the dialogue doesn't trigger until certain points and then you'll have like 10 conversations.

I'm tempted to continue to do the story lines by rolling a Jedi Counceller while saving the Jedi Knight story to the end.

BTW Makeb is a huge amount of fun, but very tough because the mob mechanics are so different. Plus the final boss fight on the Empire side is close to impossible.

There's not too much of a point to rush the affection thing, as you'll have to continue to play further into the game to get more options to move your relationship along. I kept doing the same and talking to her at every chance and it's mostly wasted effort until you reach set points in the story.

And the occasional side mission.

Started my jedi Councelor last night. While its cool to be swing a stick (don't have a light saber yet. And chucking rocks at people, I have to admit that his voice acting is very bland compared to the other ones. I get that he's supposed to be all UN-emotional and all, but he sounds like a pod person.

When they I found a Fleash Eater baby they gave me the option to basically leave it or save it, I wanted to have a third option, I'd like to call it the irony option where I got to eat it.

I think my Jedi is going to have a tragic fall to the dark side of the force.

My problem so far with the Knight is how much of a candyass he can be. I know he is supposed to be the beacon of light and crap, and I'm trying to gain influence with Kira, but Jesus he is such a wimp sometimes.

How is the voice acting for the inquisitor or bounty hunter?
