Interesting stuff going on with Cam Newton. Hopefully the accusations are false, but I can't say I'm optimistic.
A former player for Mississippi State claims that he was told people associated with Cam Newton would guarantee his name on a letter of intent for the paltry sum of $180,000...
Possible reason why?
Tons of speculation, of course. This was a huge gamble for War Eagle if they knew of this and still played Newton.

No way he wins the Heisman now. Not right after Bush gave his back because of similar issues. Right or wrong, Heisman voters will be very cautious to protect the Heisman legacy.

Like I said, this is my first college game. It is pretty cool to feel the buzz in the air and know that tomorrow pretty much everyones life here is going to revolve around the game. The best sign I have seen was at a motel down the street that said:
"sit Locker,
Stay
Good dog
Go Ducks"

Anyone watch this Illinois/Michigan game?
Completely insane...3rd OT, Michigan wins 67-65. Something like 1300 yds of offense, over 180 plays were run.
College football can be so much fun sometimes.

Kansas scores 35 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to beat Colorado 52-45. Two terrible teams, no doubt, but that's an incredible come back no matter who is playing.

Alabama is in big trouble down 10 late in the 4th to LSU.
Not really that surprising IMO. Not that I think LSU is that great of a team, but because Alabama clearly isn't as good as they were last year. I never understood how they were all but guaranteed to be next in line if Oregon or Auburn fell. The best team in the country doesn't get thoroughly dominated the way they were by South Carolina (losing 35-21 in a score that really flattered Bama).

TCU's domination of Utah today, in Salt Lake City, should turn some heads. Total yards 558-199.

Yes, but should they lose to Bama it the Iron Bowl it would be much much worse.

Well god damn. I legitimately thought Bama was going to win out and go to the NC game. Oh well haha.

Wow does Texas ever suck. Nebraska are just kicking themselves for losing at home to that awful team.

Hard to say if it will be taken as a great team beating a very good team, or a very good team beating a team that had a easy schedule up to this point. I'd expect them to pass Boise (really, there would be something very wrong if they didn't), but they're probably still dependent on one of Oregon or Auburn losing. But definitely a great day for them especially with Alabama losing, which was probably the only one-loss team that could bump an undefeated Boise or TCU team out of the championship game.

Wow Utah is garbage. It's stupid TCU is going to get a huge boost in the computers because Utah was ranked 5th. What a joke.

How are you on Miles?
Some rumblings that he may head back to Boulder as the hand picked (Bill McCartney) savior of the Colorado football program.

Aside from the stuff above, it was kind of a crazy day, especially in the Big12. Baylor gets rolled by OSU, OU lost to A&M, K-State beats the terrible Texas team and Mizzou losing late to Tech...oh, and Nebraska escapes ISU in OT.

Awesome! I was really hoping to get to my first college football game at Autzen this year, but it's not going to happen. Next year, hopefully!
