given that this will be Christian Bale's last movie as Batman and the problems that would present an upcoming Justice League movie, i think the Bale Batman dying and JGL taking up the role would be the perfect way for the Nolan series to end while still keeping the continuity intact for future movies
Out of curiosity, why do you say this will be Bale's last Batman film? I seem to remember reading in this very thread that Bale wouldn't be opposed to reprising the role for another Batman film.
That Nolan is both director and co-writer (with his brother and David Goyer) is what I think has allowed him to produce such an exceptional series to date. Since he's not coming back, I'd imagine that rather than bring in a new director with the same cast, that like Spider-Man, they will go in a different direction once the Nolan series ends.

As much as I hate having to sit through endless origin stories, this seems to be the way to go with superhero movies. Otherwise, the series just end up as a parody of itself.
Every 3 or so movies, you need a total reboot of the universe to keep it fresh.

Bale said it will be his last Batman film as did Nolan. After Rises they are both done with Batman, though Nolan may produce future films just not direct/write.

Nolan is credited as a writer for the Superman reboot Man of Steel.
Hopefully he doesn't write Superman as a super ninja.

He did say that a few years back. But more recently there was a quote from Bale that certainly left the door open for something more.
I have high hopes for Man of Steel. That being said it will probably have an awesome trailer and then the movie itself will kinda suck.
is there anything known about the plot yet? if kryptonite is involved yet again, it will suck. if Nolan goes in a different direction, it might not suck

The following spoiler contains the cast list from IMDB with the potential villain, if you do not want to know who it is then do not click.
Spoiler!
General Zod is on the cast list at imdb.com, so my speculation is similar to the original Superman plot where he just shows up when Supes is older and they have a show down.
Will be a much better movie when he is fighting Zod instead of a rock. This also gives time for Luthor to take notice of Superman and start plotting for the sequel..

Nolan needs to make Superman more of a complete jerk then the wholesome man of Steele that we all know and dislike

The Devil Wears Prada star is the latest actress to play the Caped Crusader's feline nemesis, following in the footsteps of Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt and Michelle Pfeiffer - and Nolan was bowled over by her scenes. He tells Access Hollywood, "Anne is incredibly precise and articulate about the psychology of the character. She's really built it from the ground up, it's just a delight to watch her perform. The things she does in those heels is not to be taken lightly. "She's an incredible character and we're very excited to see her and hopefully we'll leave people wanting more."
And yet more proof that Letterman is a massive jackass and moron.
He spoiled a major plot point from TDK Rises with Anne Hathaway last night.
Don't click if you don't want to know what it is:
Spoiler!
During an interview with Anne Hathaway, who slipped into the Catwoman suit for the film, on the Late Show Thursday, Letterman revealed a vital plot point – which may or may not actually be true – by saying that Batman dies in the end of the film.
I also read about Marion Coultiard (sp?) supposedly she's
Spoiler!
a good guy, at least to start the film. She plays a Wayne Ent. employee who helps Mr Wayne. Rumours still out there that she's secretly Talia Al Ghul (sp? again) but for the beginnning of the film she's some sort of executive at Wayne Ent.
Well I did it, I held off clicking the spoilers. *pats self on shoulder*
I WILL NOT GIVE INTO TEMPTATION. Some doormat ruined The Dark Knight for me on youtube, I went to watch the trailer a couple days before it came out and he posted every major plot point of the movie. I won't even watch the trailers for TDK:R on tv now.
