It's not a matter of doing both. You can't get on the site on this day.
It took me more than an hour to get on here after the Jokinen trade broke.

People like to watch the NHL trade deadline on tv and also it makes CP slow if there is indeed a trade involving the Flames.. so no AK'ing today.

There's no trade deadline in this draft if that's what you thought

no, just trying (and failing) to be funny. Of course I know about the deadline day...just trying getting on to sports websites today...not easy.

Anyone know the whereabouts of FanIn80 though? AK'd for 4 or 5 rounds now....hope everything's okay.

For my 6th defenseman

I'll select ________ ________.

6 Stanley Cups
6 All-Star Appearances
King Clancy Trophy
The Trophy for Best Defensive Defenseman in the QMJHL is named after him.

Regular Season Stats
1254 84 348 432 1498

Playoff Stats
214 10 48 58 192

Say what you will about his "second career", but this guy was a great defensive defenseman and a "winner". Apparently he had broken ribs and a broken wrist in 1988 but he didn't miss a playoff game.

How many of Lowe's 1400 odd PIM were for jumping on a Flame from behind when they were already fighting someone else?

Sorry the old hatreds from the 80's just come up every now and then.

Lots.

I have the hatred too. I didn't want to draft the guy but I believe 96 defensemen are going in this draft, and he's clearly in the top 100. I think he's quite a bit better than a bunch of guys who have already gone, truth be told.

With the 303rd pick in the CP All-Time Hockey Draft, StrayBullet selects, Phil Russell

A talented defenseman for the Blackhawks, Flames, and Devils before rounding out his career with the Sabres in 1986, Russell was never known for his offensive capabilities but better for his fiesty and intimidating style of play. No Stanley Cups to speak of, 3 All-Star games, but he'll always be known to be of great value to whichever team he played for.

With our next selection team Halifax Explosion is happy to select on D:

Brian Rafalski

plays defense for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League, having been signed as an unrestricted free agent from the New Jersey Devils. After enduring a long struggle to enter the NHL, Rafalski has won 3 Stanley Cups and become an effective defenseman in the league. In his eight seasons in the league, he has played in four Stanley Cup finals. (2000, 2001, 2003, 2008)

Games 679
Goals 65
Assists 352
Points 417
PIM 230

With our next pick we are hapopy to select a partner for Rafalski, defenseman:

Steve Chiasson

"The kind of guy you wanted to go to war with," - Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland

Drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 1985, he was an offensive defenceman who displayed a lot of skill. During the 1992-93 NHL season Chiasson recorded a career-high 62 points and represented the Campbell Conference in the NHL All-Star Game. He was traded to the Calgary Flames in exchange for Mike Vernon in the 1994 off-season. Chiasson spent two and a half seasons with the Flames before being dealt to the Hartford Whalers in 1997 and continued with the team as they became the Carolina Hurricanes the following season. After spending most of the 1998–99 season on the injured list, Chiasson returned for the playoffs and scored an overtime goal in Game 2 of their conference quarterfinal round with the Boston Bruins, which would end up being his last NHL goal.

On May 3, 1999, after the Hurricanes were eliminated from the playoffs in Boston and returned to Raleigh, Chiasson wrecked his pickup truck on the way home from a team party at the home of Gary Roberts, killing himself instantly.

Games 751
Goals 93
Assists 305
Points 398
PIM 1107

You can't be using Cartman now, it's the 20th round! You had 19 picks to get him

With the 306th pick in the CP All-Time Hockey Draft, StrayBullet selects, Rogatien Vachon.

355 career wins with 2 Stanley Cups. Vachon helped the Los Angeles Kings build their way as a legitimate hockey team. A great goalie and reliable player for 10 NHL seasons.
