I'll always remember watching the youtube video of their behind the scenes coverage of when the Sabres found out Hall would be willing to sign there.
"If we sign this guy, we're trying to win the Cup!"
"Yeah"
Adams is not a good GM, granted he was a rookie GM at the time of that video...but what a misread of their roster.
Kim Pegula sittin' in the room with Adams...
In fairness to Adams, on paper Buffalo is a really really good team. They hired very odd coaching choices which surprisingly not, killed chances of a legit coach wanting to come there. But they’re a good team on paper.

Their fan base seems fairly united in that the problem is the owner and he has led to the dismantling of that organization. I don't see it changing unless he steps away.
I will go further. We need talent and skill. Speed is good, but talent trumps speed. Luc Robataille carved out a hall of fame career despite not being fleet of foot. Can only imagine Robertson finishing off huberdeau’s passes on the pp if that’s the route we go.
Robitaille played in the 80s and 90s. At that time, there were defensemen who were SLOW. The game has changed dramatically in that regard, and speed is more important now than it has ever been.
Can guys like Tkachuk succeed? Yes, of course. But your team overall, has to be fast to be competitive.
The Flames are getting better, but like GioforPM said, our top 6 still isn't very fast.

I’m not an Eric Francis hater as many are. He put a Sportsnet article out last night and he ended saying the time for Conroy to act is now (paraphrased). Aside from dealing Rasmus, I could not disagree more. Rebuilding is a process. Burke thought he could expedite it on two teams he was with and failed. This is a season coming up where we gotta play guys and see what they’ve got and if they’re a fit. The time to act will come in probably two seasons. But pushing for progress now is a recipe for pushing the young guys too early and them getting frustrated. It needs to happen organically with good coaching and a fostering environment. Not pushing too early.

priority for Panthers is 1. Bennett. 2. Marchand 3. Ekblad
thinks Ekblad will go to market
no guarantee that Tavares and Leafs reach agreement
in a perfect world Habs would want a #2 centre but those are so hard to find
Habs would be fine with a top 6 winger instead
habs willing to be patient and not overpay

The Flames will indeed make a splash at this year’s draft.
Whether it’s via the trading of Andersson, moving up in the draft order or landing another 23-26-year-old his team can grow with, Conroy is poised to finally address a need he identified ever since trading Elias Lindholm two seasons back.
Through two seasons as GM, patience has been one of Conroy’s greatest virtues, but now is the time to get this done.
Right but he's not saying he should go out and prioritize trading for a centre - he's saying somehow the Flames need to start to fill that gap- via the draft, young player, or some other route.
Which I don't think anyone disagrees with?

The assertion that the time to act is now to get a centre who is 23-26. We need that from the draft. Not a mid level 23 year old. There’s no replacing getting a potential star through the draft under control.

He's not saying that. He tables both options:
"moving up in the draft order or landing another 23-26-year-old his team can grow with,"

Young player for that is 18-23 not 23-26 you end up with a Frost type.
Don't agree with that part.
