Some Friday SailGP practice and showing off for the fans.





Australia did the tip on purpose despite the excitement from the crowd. Canada was just hanging out in the bay, didn’t make a pass through the canal. My observation is this is a lot more low key than an F1 race. Lots of people out, and it’s a big thing for Taranto, but not a huge sport yet. It’s getting there though. Looking forward to the races tomorrow.

That would be cool to see in person, but feel like it's a better to watch on a screen event at the end of the day. Great pictures!

I think the same but will see tomorrow. Father in law is a sailor, owns a sailboat (Dragonfly 32), and has been to some other races. I think as a sailor you’d get a lot out of being there but much like an F1 race, viewing the whole track on TV would be different. I think the worst will be the long wait between races. You can skip those when on delay on YouTube, not so much live. Plus it’s still supposed to be blazing hot tomorrow, though windy. Here’s hoping I don’t completely melt.

We laugh a bit at the instructions given to us. Since they are all “sustainable” they tell people there will be water stations and to bring a bottle. BUT, make a point that people can’t bring in single use plastic bottles, plastic bottles of any kind, AND no metal bottles. We are a bit confused as to what we can bring? Glass bottles? It seems…weirdly restrictive in a greenwashing way. I have a thick plastic Evian bottle I’ve been using on trips for years now. I guess that won’t be allowed?
