It's been a very enjoyable show, and the Alberta location spotting has made it that much better.

In the video of the locations for Episode 6, it mentions the viewpoint overlooking the Bow River valley as being Stoney Nakoda Reserve. I feel like I've seen that exact location in many movies, but I'm not sure exactly where it is. Anybody know?

I still wiash it was something like 12 episodes instead of 9. Would give them more time to fill in blanks, flesah out characters and so on ... but as a huge fan of the games, I'm probably just greedy lol.
12 would've been ideal

Would pace things a little more sensibly. I really think they should have fleshed out the settlement community more too. And yeah everything at mt royal unfolded so quickly I hardly processed what happened aside from him getting stabbed. Maybe I need to re-watch.

They could just showcase s. AB's fungus world scenery and it would be riveting

The more the show avoids zombies, the better it is.

Question that's been circulating a bit lately - Would you have preferred watching this series with or without having watched the game?

I've noticed online that viewers started out happy regardless of playing or not, but the last couple of episodes the usual chatter of antsiness and annoyance at details and pacing are starting to see an uptick from some game players around the in internet.

Last week my buddy who played it, saw me react to something and express wonder at what might happen and he flat out stated "Man, I wish I watching this with no knowledge like you, it would be so awesome!".

Personally, I don’t care. It helps that I don’t have a photographic memory or anything so I remember the gist of a game I played ten years ago but I’m not one of the “OMG they had the same wallpaper in that room that they had in the game!!!” people. I know the rest of the “big beats” that are coming, but I also know there’s literally no merit to opinion that this most recent episode should have been two. They covered every important beat, and as fun as it was moving ladders exploring empty houses for hours looking for ammo only to fall through the floorboards and have to fight your way out of yet another infected-filled basement, it’s better that they’re not bogging the story down with pointless playable moments that only exist in the games to keep you engaged as a player.

I also read a lot of books and enjoy watching movie adaptions of books I’ve read, so I’m conditioned to the idea that different mediums allow for or require different interpretations. I don’t want to see a shot for shot remake for television, I want to see them make a television show that is as good as the game, and they’re doing that.

People still talking about the game (especially critiques or complaints related to the adaptation) are just annoying at this point. If you can’t enjoy the show for the show that’s on you.

I don’t know much about the game, but are we watching the adaption of game play or lots of cut-scenes?

It's fine if you don't find the pace to be rushed and are enjoying the way the story is being told, but saying there's "literally no merit" to a contrary opinion on that front is pretty obnoxious. Hitting every major beat is not the determinant of whether a story is being told in the best way it can.

As far as Jayswin's question, no, I'm glad I played the game first because I don't think I'd have enjoyed the two things in their totality as much as I am from playing the game first. As far as people saying they want more time spent on certain story beats, I don't think those are really major complaints - basically, no one is saying "X was badly done, it was so much better in the game", or "they screwed up Y". It's just "I'd prefer if they'd do X" or "I wish they would have done this party in Y way". Which can come up in respect of any show of any level of quality.

I imagine gamers watching are having similar reactions to what we're having seeing Alberta showcased on screen

I think it would add to the experience for sure

Just like marvel comic book readers, etc. Seeing an adaptation of source material you like is always fun.

I'm enjoying not knowing everything that is coming, however comment sections have not been kind with spoilers

Or horrific, in the case of The Hobbit.

Okay. When source material is adapted competently

I love it. I enjoy when they deviate from the game, but I also enjoy when they include scenes and specific lines from the game. Obviously you know where the story is going, but the journey to that point is still a ton of fun and those issues re: pacing are nitpicking at best. So I never go "I wish I could watch this without having played the game" ... now, when it comes to "I wish I could play the games for the first time again", it'd be a different question

The previews of Mortal Kombat with Hiroyuki Sanada being a badass gave me hope, but then they just decided to toss all the lore and backstory into the trash.

It's been about a decade since I played so it's not really a problem for me knowing everything that will happen but not really. The parts I do remember I look forward to seeing how they come out in the show.

So what's the 2nd best ranked video game adaptation to date?

There's a difference between live action and animated. There are lots of great animated adaptions of games. A lot fewer live action.

I don't know if it's 2nd, but Sonic the Hedgehog is a lot of fun. The Witcher was great too.
