This guy is going to be a stud.

I'd be more worried if he was a later round pick, as a mid first rounder he's probably going to want to go pro after this next season. I doubt he wants to wait another 3.5 years.

Of course, just the unwillingness to sign and the mere threat of staying in school was enough to get Fox what he wanted. The efffing prick.

That would be fantastic to have him up with the Flames after this season.

Any chance you guys think Coronato spends time in the AHL? or straight to the NHL?

I think he stays. If he’s smart he would see the Flames have lacked a primary RW since Iggy. I know Tkachuk could count as one but he was originally a LW.

Yeah, Fox was born with a silver spoon stuck up his arse and could afford to wait 4 years, I'd be more worried he pulls a Tkachuk.

With the return we got of Tkachuk, it's not really worth the worry (considering the odds).

Statistically, he is 12th in the tournament and 5th on his team in scoring so far. I had the impression he was doing something special. He has a long way to go to be a Cammallerili.

I hope he becomes an elite player for the Flames, but 4 points in games against Austria, Switzerland and Germany is not special.

I'm not too worried about Coronato but Tkachuk and Fox we're two completely different situations. If he did go the Fox route, you're getting a lesser value than Fox had in that Hamilton trade, not a return for a US player that played a bunch of seasons here, ending with 100+ points, lol.

True, but if you look at the players he's tied with, or ahead of, he looks a lot better from that standpoint.

I just don't see the point in drawing any major conclusions from these games. It's such a small sample.

Why are you getting less for Coronato than the Flames got for Fox? In both cases you're talking about a player who has never played an NHL game but looks really good at the college level.

The principal difference is that Coronato was a first-round pick, so if he walks, the Flames get a compensatory pick in the second round. That actually puts a floor under his trade value. They are not trading him unless the value exceeds the compensation they would have received anyway.

Also, I don't know how you could've watched Team USA's games so far and not have come away extremely impressed with the Knies–Cooley–Coronato line.

They've been spectacular. Ridiculously dominant with the puck. Maybe the pure numbers haven't been there but Coronato has been doing all the right things out there.

In the ECAC playoffs, Coronato got better as the games got more important. He steps up at big moments.

I haven’t caught a second of the action so I appreciate this info.
