I really hope it's a case of hearing the wrong thing and a misunderstanding.
If it's not. I hope Canada Soccer, CanPL and Forge all take the correct action and send the offender packing. There's no place for comments like that in any league.

Speaking of Edmonton = No good...
https://edmontonsun.com/sports/socce...-week-friendly
If people think CanPL doesn't attract a high enough attendance, are they ever going to be impressed by how few people this will attract in a far more cavernous stadium.
When I heard Cardiff was coming to Edmonton, the only option should have been FC Edmonton. Are there two potential top division EPL and La Liga teams that people might care less about?
If that match fixing scandal Valladolid has goes anywhere, they won't be able to say they are a higher division team than FCE either...

^ Not sure what the promoter is thinking there. And to correct you but also support your point: Cardiff isn't even EPL anymore.
I travelled to Portland a few years ago to watch Norwich play the Timbers. That was a fun experience. I like the idea of a European club doing a preseason tour in North America, and it seems that Cardiff is already playing New Mexico and San Antonio of the USL. Wouldn't it just be better for everyone to have them play FC Edmonton instead of some random, match fixing La Liga side?
And soccer in Commonwealth? Oh dear. Unless there are 40,000+, and there won't be.

I'd be impressed if they drew 4,000...
I agree with you though, if they are good with playing USL teams, I can't imagine the gap between CanPL and USL is very large, in fact, its probably negligible.
I think I am doubly disappointed since I figured if FC Edmonton could rope a friendly against a (former) EPL team, then maybe Cavalry could get a smaller EPL, La Liga, Serie A or Bundesliga team to come too.

Agreed. North America actually provides European teams a neat option. In addition to getting some exposure for their brand on this side of the pond, there are a number of leagues like USL, MLS, and CanPL that are mid-season that could provide some increasing challenge. Not to mention it is kind of exotic for Europeans (as odd as that sounds) and a bit of a novelty.
I'd love to see any level of European team come through town. But I'd be annoyed if they didn't play Cavalry and/or they played in McMahon or something silly.

My thoughts exactly. McMahon is a horrible field for soccer and would suck for both Cavalry and the travelling Euro team. My understanding is a lot of the Euro teams won't play on the fieldturf anyway.
If you get a game, you pack ATCO Field. I don't see any team willing to come play Cavalry being able to attract too many casual fans, so 5-7k is probably the best case attendance wise anyway.

I was thinking about going to the game Tuesday doesn’t look like many seats are sold. I plan on enjoying myself a lot so would it be best to sit by the supporters since looks like only tickets sold.
Are there any bus deals happening?

If you're prepared to be on your feet and making noise the whole time then supporters section is definitely the place to be!

There will be a bus from the Rose & Crown to the game. You'd have to get your tickets separately.

Has the Calgary Sun botched the CanPL standings? The Canadian Championship Matches aren’t supposed to be included the standings, correct? And if they are...they’re missing the wins from last round?

^ Yes, they have botched it. It'll take a bit of time for them to get used to the different competitions I guess. Any press is good press?

It's the Calgary Sun. They get lots of things wrong.

In general if a sentence starts with "Has the Calgary Sun botched..." you can pretty much just answer 'yes' and come out right.

Still nice to see Edmonton at the foot of the table, even if it's incorrect...

I like the fact that they got the point totals wrong (based on printed record) for five of seven teams too.

Should be a good week for football. Tomorrows game should be pretty intense. Moreover, Saturday will be a lot of fun in the away supporters section.
