Can someone tell me why the Flames would be looking at him other than the Alberta connection?

Hes due....?

Other than the Memorial Cup 10 years ago, Peters hasn't really had any success in any other season he has coached anywhere.

Until AV was handed 2 hall of fame goalies back to back, what had he accomplished as a head coach?
Bill Peters is also a pretty accomplished international Head coach. Multiple gold medals at various levels.

Yeah but once again it's a "leap of faith" type of hire where you are hoping that in his 2nd tenure with a better team he can become a better coach. Why can't this organization simply hire guys that were successful at their last stop? It worked really well when they hired Darryl so it's kind of baffling that they wouldn't consider going back to that well.

I think it's pretty clear that the simple explanation is the correct one - the Flames don't want to spend a lot of money on a coach.

Yeah but when I think of that actually happening all I can think of is the last time we heard King speak on the radio when what he should have done is shut up.
Him speaking about a new arena and the vision and blah blah blah.

I would liken that mentality to developing and building a multi-million dollar Formula 1 car, and then getting your 12 year old son to drive it, to save a few bucks.

WTF is with the love for Huska??? The guy has done absolutely nothing with Stockton who have had some damn good talent on their roster. I thought we were trying to get rid of the garbage?

Great analogy. Although I feel it’s more likely that none of the professionals are returning their calls.

I still don't think GG is fired and I am honestly on the fence about it. I think he is a great tactics coach but he needs to use his bench better and decisions on when to play certain players. Other people who are experts in the hockey world think highly of him so maybe we look at him more out of emotion than his abilities to coach. Regardless the assistants have to go for sure. I would replace Cameron with Paul MacLean, a guy who coached both Detroit's and Anaheim's PP's to very productive numbers. I have no idea who to hire for the defensive group but it should be someone who is good with D men who like to jump up into the play. If GG drops the ball at the start of the year you have a capable interim coach in MacLean.
